2004 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Adriatic Blue

Replaced the broken bonnet release cable that just snapped by the handle which was lucky, so I could at least open the bonnet with a pair of pliers.

Not too bad to change using a length of electrical cable to use as a pull through for the new one.

Note the offside bolt head was stripped and rusted in.

some remedial action re rust protection was required but all fine in the end. 10 minute job became a 30 minute job plus the ti.e to get the extra stuff and tool to repair. ... All good now Willie

Bit of a wash and brush up followed by new rear brake pads. Will need new discs soon but already had the pads. 45 mins to do the offside (blooming wear indicator wire is a pig) and 10 mins on the nearside Smile Dec 2021- 2010 Facelift TDV8 4.4 AB in Stornoway Grey.

Fitted new steering outer track rod ends after garage told me they couldn't align it properly as there was too much play in the joints. Didn't need a ball joint splitter in the end as a couple of 'taps' with 4lb lump hammer did the job but needed a lot of heat on the threaded section to free the threads. Alignment booked on Monday. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Changed the lower control arms. One side ball joint popped out easily, the other side needed heat with oxy-acetalyne, then the steel insert in the alloy hub came out after much pressure and hammering. I then pressed the steel insert off the old control arm in a 25T press. Then pressed the insert back into the hub, and installed the new control arm. Bloody pain of a job.

Replaced front left height sensor (thank you @advancedfactors)

Had the dreaded “suspension fault” suddenly, strangely after jet washing the arches. GAP told me zero voltage at the front left and hey presto a change of sensor sorted it after I tried taking it off (3 times) and using contact cleaner and hoping that might sort it.

Getting the old one off the bracket was a bitch, ended up grinding off the top of each set screw as they just turned in the old sensor. I knew it was a problem so ordered the new set screws as well, by the way the bracket is a LR only part at £173 plus VAT!!! I was very careful with the grinding disc. Dec 2021- 2010 Facelift TDV8 4.4 AB in Stornoway Grey.

Treated my FF to its first wash with this:

Embarassed Managed to blow off the little lock cover drivers door although the jet was at least a foot away,
then found it to be loose on reattachment, so heated it with my little heatshrink gun and squeezed the sides together so it was slightly concave, hey presto “CLICK!” and it was perfect again, phew!
Apparently, its very common, so be careful jetwashing! “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Today I fixed a B1A76-15 Fuel Sender No.2 Fault

Quite impressed with myself today. I managed to troubleshoot and fix a fault with my fuel gauge reading incorrectly as a result of a Fuel Sender Fault. This is not uncommon from what I can ascertain and affects Disco 3 & 4, RRS and FFRR. Anyway, long story short, it took about 2 hours to learn by doing, and was free!!

Replaced my rear shocks with the aerosus ones, already had done front.

Did bags too.,

night and day difference. the rears were completely shot.

currently due to adaptive fault am guessing its in "hard" mode. but thats already like a million times better than the bouncing that was going on. Its actually a sport Sad

Not anymore, 4.4 TDV8 now Very Happy

The dreaded MOT day again today......WooHoo...passed Very Happy

Now off outside as it's not raining, to change wiper blades as advised, already in my stock of parts and to fit my newly arrived Powerful UK reversing lights as in the photo Kevinp posted (cheers Kev) like the look of these and better than the single candle power of the originals. Then I will not have to ride the brake when I need light for reversing. Whistle
