Hi all,

I'm experiencing a niggle with my L405.

It's a 16MY with auto access height which I have enabled.

The last few days upon driving off im getting a message 'suspension will raise when system cooled' and the suspension takes a good while to reach normal ride height.

Any thoughts before I book in with LR? (it has LR warranty)

I'm confused as to it needing to cool as this happens after sitting overnight as well as throughout the day.

I guess there could be a leak somewhere in the EAS.

This is from an L322 owner so take caution..But...sounds like the air compressor is overheating or the air output is at a high temperature ? Couple that with the fact that it takes a long time for the car to reach normal ride height suggests that the compressor could need an overhaul or it is fighting a leak. Thus over running and heating up.Best tactic is look for a leak first, hope this helps. Does the compressor make more noise than normal ?

Yes I agree the compressor is definitely reaching its thermal cut out and not long after a cold start which is strange as I would have thought air from the tank would be used at a cold start but not 100% sure on principals of operation (I do have the WSM so will have a read)

I believe the car had a new compressor a few years ago so it shouldn't be worn so may be a leak somewhere.

I would usually diagnose and repair such faults myself however as the car is still covered by LR extended warranty I think I will just book it in.

(Just awaiting confirmation from LR that the warranty has transferred from previous owner to me)

That's good news about the warranty, takes the pain out of the situation, repairs can be easy, it's the diagnosis that can be a long path.

It's a strange one for me as with my last 3 L322s I was the warranty!

I've turned off auto access height for now and left it in standard.

Will give my local LR dealer a call as soon as I've had confirmation that the warranty has transferred and let them have the pleasure of sorting it should there be an issue.

Just let them know you only want them to fix it if it is covered by the warranty or you could end up with a huge bill..

Make sure they get authorisation before they start the work....  Pete

If its not covered under warranty I will happily delve in and resolve myself.

Having checked the warranty documentation most air suspension parts appear to be covered so I should be good to go.

It's a case of wait and see (for now)

Could I ask roughly how long it takes other members l405s to go from access height to normal?

Very quickly, if you select it manually - seems a lot faster than the L322.

Thanks Philip, that's how I imagined it should be.

Had the spare wheel out and the cover off the compressor today just for a 'quick check' for anything blindingly obvious as the previous owner was told the compressor was replaced under warranty when he had a different issue with the suspension.

The compressor has a sticker dating it to 2015 so must still be the original. Looks like the brass exhaust filter has been replaced before though.

Still awaiting the confirmation of warranty transfer then it'll be booked in with Sytner Stockport for diagnostics and hopefully repair under the warranty.

Nothing blocking the air going into the compressor?

No not that I can see Gremlin.

There is a filter on the inlet which I popped off the hose, it appears clean and I can blow through it with ease.

Perhaps this is just simply a tired compressor?

Ah, just a thought.
Maybe Pheonix or Craig or someone can suggest some simple way to test the output pressure?

I could check it electronically Gremlin via diagnostics but unfortunately my SDD install is playing up.

Other than that a mechanical gauge could be hooked up to the compressors output but as I have warranty I shall let the local dealer have the honours.

Going to call up LR warranty tomorrow to check if its now in my name prior to booking in.

It could be a number of things including leaks at the valve blocks, sticky valves or a leak in one of the air springs. It might be worth getting the soapy water solution out and having a spray around in the absence of SDD or an IID tool. Mind you, if you have a warranty, like you say, get the dealer to do it. Kev
