Really ? Was Marley some sort of God ?

A battered and rusting 1980 Range Rover is being touted to sell for a six-figure sum at a UK auction next month - and it's all because experts believe it was formerly owned by one of the biggest icons of the music industry.

The beaten-up SUV is thought to have been the pride and joy of legendary reggae star, Bob Marley.

Thought ?

I can never understand why a car is perceived to be worth more just because "so & so" owned it.

As bad as vanity number plates (especially those that have been "adjusted".)

Lady Diana's Ford Escort sold for £650k..... Shocked

But I'm firmly in the camp of - it's value is based on condition, regardless of who might have owned it in the past. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

Even if this was owned by Jacob Marley, its still not worth £150k, some would describe it as heavily patinated.

The whole story just looks like clickbait to attract a bit free publicity - it might be a story after the auction

A little known phenomenon of vanity plates, if you stand back 20 metres and squint, they all seem to read 'tw@t'... Wink especially the ones that need to have incorrect spacing or coloured fixing caps in non-standard fixing positions to massage the owners ego enough.

Touched on this type of subject in my history degree, if my memory serves me correctly.

It’s all about transferring the perceived intangible qualities of a person via a ‘relic’

First degree relic is like a bone or body part of, for example, a catholic saint.

A second degree relic is like a car or object owned by the said person. Pop star, poet, king…whatever. Maybe even an autograph. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster - Baltic Blue, Jet interior

People I have had in my cars at one time or another. Lloyd Grossman, Emlyn Hughes, Ivy Tilsley from Coronation St. Assorted Wigan Athletic FC players, Assorted Preston N.E players. The late Terry Nutkins, to name but a few. If only I’d known that pointing this out when selling the vehicles concerned would have added brewsters to the price 😄

A mate of mine has some of Cherie Blair's 'big pants' she left on a flight into Iraq, do you think you'd be able to quantify their worth? - to a normal person, not some pinko commie b'stard!
