Hi guys any advice would be much appreciated here I’m losing patience with this now had slight oil leak and fumes in cabin had oil cooler changed last week and intermittent for last the last few days alot of smoke from back of engine and the fumes are back again sweet smelling like gas. Been told could be oil overspill still on engine from oil cooler leak but the smoke is intermittent NOT on every run and I’ve been doing about 100 miles the last few days on each journey so surely if it was oil still burning off it wouldn’t cause smoke intermittently but consistent on each trip. The smoke is at back of engine seems more severe from drivers side aswell as the smell.

So I pulled fuse today for FBH 90 mile trip and no fumes or smoke is this coincidental or has my issue been the FBH all along as smell was always stronger outside car on driver side by tyre makes sense as FBH exhaust is behind wheel arch liner apparently. I will monitor for next few days and if it turns out to be the FBH is it a case of replacement or something else with the FBH causing it to omit really bad fines into cabin and smoke up into back of engine. Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 SDV8 SVO Stying Pack

Is there not a modification for the exhaust/intake for the FBH. As the intake on my 2017 is different to my 2014 and I used to always get fumes inside with the 2014 when FBH was used which I don't seem to now on the 2017.

Just to add also still got the FBH fuse unplugged and no fumes in cabin or around outside car and no smoke at back of engine area will monitor over weekend hopefully this was the issue the oil cooler still needed doing as there was a leak just convenient about smells etc and possibly the FBH Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 SDV8 SVO Stying Pack

Well FBH fuse made no difference fumes this evening again!! Loads of smoke from back of engine seems to be intermittent only when I give the car some revs which I did this evening. Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 SDV8 SVO Stying Pack

I had my oil cooler replaced recently after finding the back of the engine was drenched in oil when I took the shield off. Just after the cooler was replaced I'd get puffs of smoke appear from the around the sides of the bonnet. Thick smoke. I asked the garage that did the work what this was about as there hadn't been these plumes of smoke before and they told me it is common the have oil pool after the cooler is replaced and that it'd only last a short while.

After two disconcerting weeks the plumes ceased.

Yeah the garage that changed my oil cooler said the same to me that back of my engine was covered but the smoke was coming from oil hitting hot exhaust near it. Hi guys really have hit a brick wall STILL having smoke and horrible fumes which is ONLY intermittent mainly when car hot but that said did a 300 miles roundtrip recently and nothing no smoke or fumes etc... had 2 garages look at it don't know where its coimg from oil cooler done all good o ring on pipe done at back of oil cooler and I been monitering there's no oil on floor driveway etc! surely this oil wouldn't take 4 weeks to burn away from back of engine doesn't it only smoke as the oil hits the exhaust as this gets hot? I had similar after oil cooler change at MD.

The RR is still with them awaiting parts (since January!!). Long story short is a possible coolant washing the oil residue backwards so all things pointing towards coolant related leak. There was still a fairly unpleasant smell after a few weeks of driving with the new oil cooler and trying to get rid of the oil residue which never cleared. The part they are waiting for is LR036058.
