I’m tempted to say that it might still be previous leaked oil burning off. It gets into all sorts of places.

Yeah I was thinking possibly excess oil burning off but the garage did say they cleaned up most of the oil that had leaked everywhere but like you say it gets into all areas. I will run it for another week and see.

Also Craig mention a possible crankcase breather to be a culprit where are these can’t find any info online for images or diagrams etc..where they are!

I'd suspect that's in reference to part number LR022907 located just to the right of the oil cooler in the vee. Diagram here shows location (6A785 on the diagram) based on L322 installation, but I'd assume it's the same on the L405 as the part number is listed to fit both.
