Hi guys had my oil cooler changed recently as I was experiencing bad fumes in cabin and smoke at back of engine. Drive car today about 50 miles slight wisps of smoke at back of engine and fumes in cabin again any ideas if there could be another culprit gone in missed ?

I’m tempted to say that it might still be previous leaked oil burning off. It gets into all sorts of places.

Might be wrong…. There are the 2 O rings that sometimes leak on the connections to the cooler but I’d run it more and see.

Took a while to go when I had mine done.

Yeah I was thinking possibly excess oil burning off but the garage did say they cleaned up most of the oil that had leaked everywhere but like you say it gets into all areas. I will run it for another week and see.

Needs a couple of midnight Italian tune-ups sir... You need somewhere to really stretch her legs!

If it doesn't work and still smokes? There is a crankshaft breather immediately below the right-hand side (when standing looking at the engine) Its VERY easily cracked or even snapped off when changing the cooler...

If you want to see what that looks like? Take the oil filler cap off and you will see how much smoke emits...

Hi Craig where is this crankshaft breather I can’t find any info or diagrams online for this is it a filter?

I'd suspect that's in reference to part number LR022907 located just to the right of the oil cooler in the vee.

Diagram here shows location (6A785 on the diagram) based on L322 installation, but I'd assume it's the same on the L405 as the part number is listed to fit both.
