The time has come for one of our SUVs to go, the choice was between the 2003 TD6 and the 2013 Infiniti FX…….the agreement was that the TD6 will be kept as it’s preferred to the Infiniti on ride and practicality and that the mog is roughly the same.

That means that we need/want an auto estate on the larger side for c.£8k any recommendations? Or ones to avoid?

In the meantime I’ll try and persuade swmbo to stretch to a 4.4tdv8 L322, if we gave 2 FFRR’s one of them will be working at any given time…..probably! L322 TD6 2003

For reliability and space I'd go for the Skoda Superb estate. However I have had a 2011 TDV8 4.4 for the last 5 years and the only thing to go wrong was the inlet manifold (£1600) - known weakness/por quality part. Other than that it is faultless. That would be my choice if you do long trips, off road at times (shooting, that sort of thing) or live in an area of flood risk.

Oh, BTW, did I say I bought it off eBay?

Have you looked at an XC60 or an old model XC90?

#2 with the Skoda Superb estate.

I had the Mk1 saloon version for 68,000 miles in 3 years, and it was a belter, adequate performance, not one fault, and sooo roomy and quiet. The Mk2 version looks a peach and will hold its age and price well. Estate version is better looking and has prodigious space.

I too would be looking at the Skoda. The rear legroom is greater than an S class and it has (maybe only in elegance trim level and matched only by the Rolls Royce something) umbrella drying cubby holes in the doors. Specs may have changed since I looked at one though. MrsWold would choose whichever one came in green. Chris

Budget increased to £15k as Infiniti is worth a bit more than we thought

My favourite was the V70 of the estates but apparently not for SWMBO apparently too old man for her! Not sure what that says about me 🤔, Jag we looked at this morning, but she preferred the Mercedes.

I’d also like to add that I am not influencing her on the FFRR as if she gets it and it goes wrong it’ll be my fault! L322 TD6 2003

So search will start shortly.
