Tdv8 4.4 front differential unit change, advice saught.

Guys, my front diff is whining, I’ve secured a secondhand (same ratio) diff, and I’m ready to replace it… but I can’t find any experiences on the job on this forum for my engine…. I’m assuming to disassemble the suspension arms and pull out the short driveshaft, and with the longer one, similarly dismantle, and pull it out enough, so that the unbolted diff will then be free to remove. So with the front prop shaft removed, does the diff just come out, towards the transfer box, or drop through subframe, or is there a lot of subframe dismantling to get the thing out? I’ve seen some similar questions on other engines, but not for the 4.4 Tdv8.. thanks.
P.s. there’s nothing on YouTube either.

Have you downloaded the workshop manual?
I've just had a look and it shows what to do.

If you download the turbo drain mod doc, the diff removal is included

EDIT: Also what KevinP said

. Cheers, Greg

Once everything is unbolted, prop removed and drive shafts out it does wiggle out through the side of the subframe, its a tight fit but it will come out, just watch you don’t trap you fingers getting it out as its quite heavy. Good luck Thumbs Up
