L322 rear LED conversion - question

I have fitted the 2010 rear clusters to my 2008 model and found that everything works fine except the fog lights come on with the rear lights - the usual cure is the Powerful UK adaptor boards but since fitting those, the left fog has stopped working and the tail lights themselves have a slight flicker.

Might be a faulty board, but is there another way of solving the fog light issue without using the boards? Trying to find an auto electrician around here is difficult so I was wondering if there was something that I could do, as I am not too afraid to get involved in a bit of wiring.

Did your car originally have two fogs? A lot of other cars just have the one on the “outside”.

Might be worth popping original lights back in and checking 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

Pretty sure it was both. Unfortunately I’ve sold the lights now, but I am 99.9% sure. I can live with that but it’s the flickering tail lights that aren’t good enough for me!

When I did my conversion I turned the hot (or cold - I can’t remember which) monitoring off using a Faultmate (I assume the IID tool will do the same) and it cured the problem. I didn’t use any resistors.

John

I’ve done that and it stops the weird flashing and indicator going too fast; just can’t find a way of keeping the fog light from coming on at low power with the circular tail lights. Someone must’ve solved this!

John, does yours have the fog lights on when you switch your normal lights on?

It did originally but then I changed the CCF coding. I was constantly being flashed by frustrated motorists…. Mine was the 2004.5 BMW so not the original launch spec but touchscreen / fibre optic model so I’m not sure if that made a difference?

Regards

John
