Screen washing not washing

Six days in and the first fault:

Tried to clear the windscreen this morning for the firat time using the washers. After a long pause, driver's side was a miserable little squirt that just about found the glass, nothing from the passenger side. It did this several times.

Topped up the reserviour back at home - it was almost full, so low fluid wasn't the issue.

Now nothing at all, but the pump is audibly running. Rear screenwash works a treat. As faults go it could be worse, but not being to clean the windscreen is really not good.

Where is the pump and what route does the tubing take? I'm guessing that the pipe is disconnected or damaged somewhere.

Forgive stating the obvious, but have you used a needle in the jets, in case they are clogged with dirt or the previous owner used tap water instead of screenwash, and could be limescaled up? 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Duly forgiven Gary, although it required a bit of compressed air to do the trick. Typically we thought of that after the airbox had been removed to access the reservior.

Now I can clearly see... that I need new wiper blades.

This actually gets much sillier.

They were working in the workshop. I know this, because Mr Mechanic managed to soak himself. So be it. Job done. Except…

I tried to use them last night. Back to Square One: pump running, no water. Mutter mutter mutter.

I’ve just found a gap in the rain in daylight and gone to try to separate the tubes on the underside of the bonnet and blow air down them again. Whilst I was tugging fruitlessly away at the t-pipe connector I spied the problem. As the bonnet closes, the tube and wiring loom curve nicely away past the battery and the tube is very precisely trapped by the closing bonnet seal. Judging by the dent in the seal and the flatness of the tube, this has been going on for some time.

FFS.

A spot of tube re-routing on Sunday I think. But for the moment I can put this on the Problem Solved list.

There should be a plastic panel that clips in over the battery in the engine bay that has two clips to hold and route the washer pipes to stop them getting pinched by the bonnet. It sounds like either it's missing on your FF or has been broken.
This is the plastic panel, shown in this thread:

There's a panel...? I might have to take a photograph.

It probably does, it's dark and raining here at the moment, but I'll have a look in the morning and get you the part number if it's on it. Thumbs Up

Brilliant, thank you. I'll get one on order this week... as soon as the alternator is sorted. Now the bonnet has been up and, more awkwardly, down several times this weekend, the need is obvious!
