Smart key not found 2011 L322

Anyone had smart key not found?
I installed new key battery and it’s still the same, car will only start if I wave the key at knee level infront of the interior light

I had this on my L322 and D4, being a bit of a cheap skate I bought a cheap battery still got the same message and issue, bought a Duracell and it worked straight away.

the forum consensus is that a duracell bought from a reputable source is the 'battery' for key fobs..

i agree with the above comment . change your battery for another.. ... - .- -.

+1 for what Stan says, I always use Duracell batteries for both the Keys and the FBH Remote.
Buying a cheap battery is false economy, especially when a Duracell battery is not much more expensive than any other make.
Only thing to check is the Battery 'Best before' date, some places will sell 'new' batteries which are actually 'out of date'.

Cheers guys I will certainly do just that , at the point of failure I installed a cheap Chinese battery out of a blister pack found in the cupboard as I had no other battery available.
I will post the outcome of a Duracell 👍 1990 3.5 v8 defender

Just to say that Varta (Mercedes use Varta) are also just as good as Duracell. You can get a 4 pack on Amazon pretty affordably. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Well guys guess what it didn’t work 😩 fitted a brand new Duracell battery with a date code in 2025 and still the same
Read all the codes and no fault found, apart from the usual ones, I wonder if there is a key loop type antenna somewhere?
Any idea’s 🤔 1990 3.5 v8 defender

Maybe worth checking the antenna plugs haven't come loose. The owner's manual tells you where they are. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I’ve had this a few times, fitted new battery, still says the same thing.
You need to put the fob on the instrument panel, above the steering wheel for a couple of minutes, and then start the car, seems ok after that.
Good luck
