@PLD118:

ME allowed me to use a local LR specialist at up to £85 (+ VAT) an hour when
I explained the need for specialist diagnostic equipment and tools meant repairs can be completed more quickly.
They wrote it into the contract.

Try approaching them on that basis. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Gremlin500, thanks.

Did you car have to undergo a ME health check before they would cover it? If so, who did the health check and did you have to commit to their warranty before they did the health check?

Hi Martin,

ME waivered the Healthcheck as the vehicle had a new MOT and was to be checked & serviced by our local LR independent, plus I told them I really didn’t like the idea of trusting my £45K car to Halfords for a day.

They accepted this without question. Thumbs Up “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Hi Martin,

Sorry I’ve not answered one question:
Yes, in the abscence of a waiver, you would have to agree to the HC before going ahead. Presumably, if you then cancel, you would have to repay the HC fee, since ME have to pay a 3rd party for this service. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Thanks Gremlin500,

How did you get them to waive the health check, they’re telling me a car like ours must have a health check (ours is older than yours = 2014MY and has covered 92k)?

Ps… ours will also be going into the LR main dealer for its full annual service in a couple of weeks anyway, during which time the MD will undertake it’s routine health check anyway.

Hi Martin, just tell them what you just said, and that you can supply a copy of the MD Service & Healthcheck invoice as proof & ask them to waiver their own healthcheck, usually they are accommodating to get your business. Someone who skimps on servicing will not be using a main dealer typically, so that says a lot. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?
