The main ventilation fan in my 2011 Vogue SE is squealing when going round right hand corners, so presumably the bearings are on the way out.
Can anyone tell me how much dash surgery is required to access said item? Are there any tips for lubricating the bearings, or is it a case of having to replace the whole unit? 2011 TDV8 4.4 Vogue SE in Galway Green with Black leather

I have the same issue. It's not the vent actuators or the mixers, just the cabin blower. Functions perfectly fine without bearing noise though, so was thinking they need a grease.

If it's noisy when turning corners, that would suggest the impeller is catching on the casing, which in turn would suggest there is wear in the bushings - which can only be cured by replacement. It may be temporarily 'fixed' if you can get some viscous lubricant between the bushings and the motor shaft, but that would only ever be a temporary measure.

I've never had to replace the twin axial fan - but, I did have to open one up after a customer's kids decided the windscreen vents were some sort of slot machine and started feeding coins into it whilst he was filling up with fuel...
I saw them once, they did look quite feral - and violently ginger.

Don't use WD-40 or similar, it'll make things worse as it will dissolve any remaining lubricant, better to use a spray grease that will 'set' to a high pressure lubricant, Wurth do one, I can't remember the code though.

My intention was to use some spray on lithium based grease, given it's pretty heavy duty.

I think the Wurth one is a silicone based grease. I also have spray-on silicone grease normally used for pads on cardiovascular equipment - again, designed for high speed and heat. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I took out the pollen filter assembly today and greased the fan bearings as best I could (didn't realise how tight the spot is, and needs the engine running or battery disconnected to stop the flaps closing).

Squeaking is reduced but still there. So, I think a summer job is to replace the fan. In all fairness, the fans clock up just as many hours as the engine, so it's reasonable to expect a replacement needed after 150,000 miles. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Gary - will you do the "dashboard cut out" route to make it easier to remove and replace? Saves a lot of hassle I'm told.

Looks like it will be the cut-out method, given the plastic to be removed is just trim and doesn't support anything. Removing the entire interior, steering wheel and crossbeam seem far too excessive / greater potential to break something.

One to save for a sunny day.
