LR036573 brake caliper actuator

Does anyone know who manufactures the original brake caliper actuators, part number LR036573? I think it may be TRW, but not sure.

TRW definitely make these, they have TRW embossed into the plastic. One thing to be aware of is there are 2 different types of electrical connector, one with rounded plug, and one with rectangular plugs which has rounded-off corners (see pic) Thumbs Up

Will the faults need clearing once I replace the actuator or can I just cycle through a handbrake service mode?

Put the EPB in service position, remove two bolts and the electrical connector, fit new part, take EPB out of service - might need to cycle the EPB a couple of times afterwards, personally, I'd put it in 'service' then disconnect the battery if you don't have the ability to clear DTC's.

Been quoted £700 for both to be replaced, seems a bot high but that is MD

There are genuine TRW ones on EBay for £90. (TRW is the original manufacturer if you look on the back of the ones on your car)

Genuine parts are roughly £250 a side so ~1.2 hours fitting is about right.

Wow! Shocked

I’m glad I have 2 spares!

No way 1.2 hours to fit though, about 30 minutes max DIY, I’ve done it myself, unfortunately twice. Censored “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Ours were done by a MD, but I did a friends on the drive it’s a 10minute job if you just replace them but maybe a 30 minute job if you take your time and clean up the calliper and any corrosion caused by the water ingress.

Worth doing sooner than later, as it certainly causes calliper corrosion. Thumbs Up

You don’t even need to jack the car up etc Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

They quite often rot on but are quite straightforward to replace Thumbs Up
