2012 TDV8 FBH Not Working

Evening All,

Due to the recent drop in temperatures, I wanted to check whether or not my FBH is working. Unsurprisingly, I have discovered that it is not.

I have tried to use the touchscreen to set the FBH to operate at specific times during the day and absolutely nothing happens - no noises from the wheel arch and no fans operating. I have used my iCarsoft scanner to read for any codes and none have appeared in relation to the HVAC system. When I enter the live feed mode, I can't see any errors logged with the auxiliary heater system.

I also have a remote and checked that the correct module is in the boot; however, the remote will not pair.

Can anyone suggest why there doesn't appear to be any life whatsoever form the system? Given the findings, I would consider that some electrical fault is most likely, but any suggestions would be most helpful.

Thanks.

Check your battery, if the voltage is too low the FBH won’t start.

If the remote won't pair, you may need to change the battery in it. Although my remote was working and lighting up, it would not pair with the car. Swapping the battery solved this issue. It seems the transmitter needs a full 3V.

If your FBH is not firing up, it could be detecting a fault when triggered and is shutting down. As suggested, the FBH will also not start if the battery voltage is too low. It will also fail to start if the little fuel pump doesn't work, a common fault on these. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I thought the outside temperature had to be below 5 degrees for the FBH to work. 2007 3.6 TDV8

Thanks for the replies thus far - I'll check the battery voltage and report back.

As far as I'm aware, outside needs to be below 5 degrees for the FBH to kick in to help the engine with heating, but you are still able to use FBH to prewarm the cabin using the timed climate function in the touch screen, or using the remote heater.
