Front lower arm bolt…

Do any of you know why there are 2 different bolts KYG000042 & KYG000043 that do the same job?

The threads are a different length but wonder if it doesn’t matter which one is used? Is it as simple as one is factory and the other aftermarket?!

I have a 2009 3.6 TDV8 that has a knocking noise, spotted the front lower arm subframe bolt won’t tighten fully so suspect that is the issue.

Also is there any correct factory torque setting for these bolts aside from ‘tight’?

Any advice welcome…

If the bush is still in good condition, then it could be that the nut is tightening up as there is not enough thread, plus it could be a manufacturing defect with too short a thread ( not unknown )
Try removing the bolt. and measuring the distance across the bush etc and length of thread.
Note the OEM version shows a set screw ( Completely threaded and the other a standard bolt )

As for torque settings, these should be in the 'Wiki' section somewhere.
PS - When carrying out final tightening, this should be dome with the car on the ground, not jacked up.

Thanks for the advice. Will have a look for the wiki section, is that a search thing or a specific section of the site? (I’m quite new as you can tell!)

Brilliant thanks.

On a different but relevant note - I need to buy a not too expensive torque wrench, any suggestions welcome!

Not too expensive = inaccurate = might as well not bother.
Norbar have a good reputation in the mid-range stuff, i think Halfords sell them as own brand.

ETA - don't use a torque wrench for doing angular tightening, it can cause loss of accuracy unless it's designed for it, rather torque to setting then use a breaker bar for the angular tightening.

Noted.

Can’t see the one you mentioned but this seems to have got good reviews. Not a ‘named brand’ I know.

The different part numbers are due to difference chassis numbers according to the LR online catalogue.

This is the Norbar one - it's got a NSN which is always a good sign...

Looks exactly the same as the Halfords one to me.

Halfords advanced version has a lifetime warranty. Also own a 1976 Land Rover 101 3.5 V8.
Previously owned 1991 Range Rover Vogue 3.9 V8.
