PTFE is pretty much "inert" I would have thought, certainly the oil in a frying pan doesn't dissolve the non-stick PTFE coating they have!

Followed the link - Great article, learnt something there, especially the bit about the 'self healing' chromium oxide layer that can't repair as fast as sea water attacks it. Good stuff. Thanks!
