Its a great engine without doubt, why not compromise and go with the 4.4V8 Diesel? still a V8 and powerful enough?

I must admit i have seen a lot more supercharged for sale of late.

Ah sorry i see you had one before.

I suppose the fact is that I want to stay away from diesel now. But you're right, it's a good match for the car!

Agree diesel 4.4L , very pokey, but buy post 2016???? Ie euro6 compliant with ad blue.

Late 2015 is teh s/start version ULEZ compliant Graham

I keep looking for a 5.0 S/C, but then I drive my SDV8 and wonder what extra I would get. My car has, to date, been faultless and only has 52k miles on it (65 plate 16MY). Sensible head says stay with what you have, but it doesn’t stop me hunting for a decent 5.0. Been looking for best part of a year mind….

I've just retired and am tempted by a last petrol fling.

I have an SDV8 right now, and similar to Andy, it's been faultless and so I have no excuse to change - and I've done significantly more miles. I've also slowed down a little bit, I'm not in so much of a hurry any more - and have seen a decent increase in economy - I've discovered it's possible to get >600 miles from a tank Shocked

My next one does really need to be LHD, so maybe I can use that as an excuse to change Laughing

Thumbs Up makes sense. Graham

Get one. I have driven them alot from 2018 until early this year (not my cars, my employers, but used as my own alot of the time).

The TDV8 is a great engine, no doubt, but there is something over and above with the supercharged. I would love one of my own, but can only afford a 4.2.

I have a 2015 Supercharged 5.0 as well as a 2022.5 RRS Supercharged P525. Was just in the local dealer looking at the new full size and a pre production 2023 RRS. The general manager said the new BMW engine equivalent has lost the character of the Jag/Ford engine and he expects the late 5.0 models to become sought after in the future. There is something about the instant acceleration, the steady climb to 130 mph plus and the smoothness of it all that makes it one of the great V8s of our time.
Forget about the mileage, global warming and everyone else’s opinion and just enjoy the sheer exhilaration of leaving a vast majority of so called sports cars behind on the motorway, entrance ramps and traffic lights. Life is too short.

Thumbs Up Exactamondo. More or less my thoughts too. Although if you're in the US you don't have the £10 gallon to deal with...! Graham

Owned a 5.0 Supercharged during lockdown, great time to own one as Petrol got as low as 99p a litre as opposed to today’s mad prices.

Having owned many Land Rovers over the years, it was without doubt the best I’d ever owned. Sublime performance coupled with superb comfort, a winning combination for me.

Unfortunately it was also the most unreliable LR I’d ever owned, recovered twice for the same issue, broken injectors on 2 different cylinders. Not only costly repairs but also rendered the vehicle undrivable.

Rare I believe in the Supercharged but I lost all confidence in it.

All this from a 4 year old example that had only covered 40k miles Big Cry

If it had been reliable I have no doubt I would still own it today. They really are a lovely drive.

Well, by deploying some carefully crafted math maths (an essential tool for any boat owner), I've managed to "find" an extra £20k Whistle

So I can get into a 2017/2018, either V8 Supercharged or the 4.4 diesel SDV8.

Wanted for late November when my lease ends, so if anyone's got a new order coming and might be interested in a private sale, please let me know. Autobiography strongly preferred. Not black. Graham

Hi Graham, like you I’m on the last few laps of gainful employment and facing a similar quandary.
My wife (the head) says keep my current car and go on nice holidays etc
Me (the heart) is really struggling with that concept and keep looking.

I still think the market’s overheated and now isn’t the time to buy. I’d also love to think that fuel prices will drop eventually.

Good luck in your quest Thumbs Up Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

Go for the supercharged like Alistair I will be buying a LHD I have a 2007 supercharged which was mapped and had the pulleys done so quite quick it is now on 228k I tend to keep them I still have my classic and my p38 I am about to retire next year when I am 70 so it will be another v8 petrol - I will be getting rid of the boat and the plane when I go to France so a no brainer
So from me get the petrol v8 supercharged and smile every time you drive anywhere Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Great advice from everyone! Thank you.

I've had a bit of an issue arise, I accidentally spent my FF fund on this so I'm a tad brassic at the moment Laughing
