L405 - Paint code for deployable steps

Hi

Looking to re-paint my deployable steps, as i have some wear point with white primer coming through…

Does anyone know the paint code?

Thanks in advance.

Stephen

Hi, I have they factory deployable steps. They are not painted mine are aluminium that have been anodised or plated in the black color.
So I don t think you can do much with them

I painted mine with black Hammerite Smooth, after masking off the silver bits. Not perfect, due to aluminium corrosion under the surface, but OK for now until I can figure out how to remove and send to the blasters. Removing bolts and hammering away with a mallet wouldn’t budge them 1mm Crying or Very sad The white is likely aluminium oxide rather than primer, yes that’s “rust” in aluminium-speak.

On another, slightly off-topic note: Why do I sometimes get “roof access unavailable” at the local carwash, and have to leave with filthy steps? Seems to have a mind of its own Neutral “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

On the topic of roof access restricted, the side steps are quite High Tech and have sensors under the car that can detect obstacles. So the steps won't come out onto a rock or the likes of an obstruction and damage steps.
Mine sometimes don't come out if I have gone over something bumpy before I try and get out.
It thinks it is off-road and protects the side steps.
So I think, maybe if you are in a car wash and the underside of the car has been sprayed with water for cleaning the car thinks there is an obstruction.
Not totally sure ! Range Rovers were made by some devious little Elves, that like to mess with us.

I’ve used truck bed liner paint on these previously, with excellent results - a very durable and slightly textured finish.

I removed the steps which made it a simple task to rub down and spray, the stainless insert comes out without too much persuasion.

I bought it from Halfords at the time, although not sure if they still sell it, but it’s widely available.
