This is the part in the roof console that was taken out… clearly not designed to hold a button…

No direct help, but what you have taken out is where the microphone goes for the phone/voice control.

Now that is what i assumed before taking the console down… it turns out my microphone is behind one of those central “vents” to the left of the button in my picture… with the other being empty.

Just looked on autotrader and searched for the word deployable.

When you buy the kit you get the surround that fits into. |

Ah sorry ffrr-lover I did forget to mention that there is a black surround for the button to clip into. It just screws into place where the other black vent type thingy is in the roof panel. I might be wrong but I seen craddock 4x4 selling parts for deployable steps, you could give them a try. And good to see they are working spot on. You having better luck than me lol. |

I enquired about that bit before when I started trying to piece together a kit from bits I’d found but it wasn’t available separately from the kit unfortunately.

i cut carefully this black microphone plate to fit button inside. fits perfectly. Just need to do it really carefully because after cuting hole there will be about 2mm of plastic on the sides. |

Cheers for helping me out on this I’m really happy with them… although they are coming off again at the weekend (hopefully) to treat the rust I found! I’ll also take a look at cleaning them up and greasing them too. They work well, but no harm in doing so. One carefully “adjusted” plate now fitted with the button! Not the tidiest of jobs… but better than a hanging button! It’ll do until I find the proper parts Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8 Past rides: 2014 Audi Q7 3.0d (good riddance) 2010 L322 Autobiography 5.0 Supercharged 2011 L320 HSE 3.0 sdv6 2014 Jaguar XF-RS 5.0 supercharged 2007 BMW 535D 2005 Mini Cooper S https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic59478.html |
