Hello again lads, feel like I'm putting a post up here everyday at this stage, but this site has been a lot of help recently.

So I've been having issues with juddering/ cattle griding since I bought the car, initially I thought it was the wheels as they where awful Chinese copies one of which had been welded seven times, these where taken off and replaced with original ones with new tyres and all balanced nice. Also had it tracked

Car has just had its NCT (irish mot) and it flew through it, my mechanic went through everything and nothing is loose or worn its actually pretty good.

I originally thought that is was speed related, but now I'm not so sure, its doing it at around 35mph right through to 70mph. Its mainly noticeable in 5th gear especially when the revs drop to around 1800. Its also bad when gently accelerating up a hill, if I boot it it doesn't do it.

It judders in sport mode also.

I was worried it might be the torque converter but having read loads of threads on here im not sure it is. I noticed the other day that I can feel the juddering in park and in in neutral, its only slight but again its around 1500 to 1800 revs.

My mechanic had it yesterday and had it plugged in and has said there's no faults injector related, but reading on here it looks like thats not always the case, they don't always show up.

Is it worth me doing a leak off test to be sure its not the injectors before I go down the torque converter route.?

Have you checked for a binding brake? Fairly common problem that gives vibration like you describe. It did on mine once over.

Yes I actually read your posts about it, the wheel doesn't seem to be hot after a spin. Although it was a month or so ago I checked it. I will check it again for peace of mind.

I have a 50 mile commute daily for work mostly on country roads, so id say its enough time to get hot.

Its the neutral and park thats getting me though, it was only the other day I realised it was doing it when still, as I revved it on the drive and noticed it. And its the same sort of judder pattern if that makes sense.?
But only slight, but gets worse under load.

Felt the wheels today after a spin and there was no heat at all, even the calipers felt cool which I thought was odd, so id say its not a sticking caliper.

Well that is one item less to worry about.

I know this is a shot in the dark, but do the wheels sit flush on to the brake disc on the L322.?

There isn't a locater for the wheel is there.?

Reason I ask is my wheel nuts are the old style ones, the pre 2006.

And my wheels are the ones with the bigger holes. So the nuts wiggle round in the hole.

Is there a possibility that my wheels are not centre, and thats what is causing the the stering wheel wobble and judder feeling.

I would check this myself but I don't have a jack and I don't trust the one in the boot.

The wheels centre themselves on the raised spigot on the hub.
Don’t like the sound of your wheel / wheel nut set up.
You definitely have to have the correct nuts for the year of the wheels. If the wheel nuts are the wrong size ie small there is a chance the holes in the wheels will gradually enlarge themselves through vibration / movement.
Whether that would cause noticeable vibration or not l have no idea but l certainly wouldn’t drive the car with that set up.

I suppose it could move about depending on how snug the wheel fits on the spiggot. Either way its not good is it.

I have ordered a set of new nuts from the UK but im not sure where they are, its a bit of a headache over here getting stuff from over.

You can actually see my steering wheel wobbling and the passenger seat on acceleration. When cruising along its still present but bearly noticeable.

Is it possible a dirty fuel filter could be my cause.?

I had a stretch of motorway driving this morning so had the cruise contol on.
And its very smooth going along, as soon as a small hill comes and it needs more revs, it judders pretty bad.

I'm convinced it's not getting enough fuel when it wants it, especially on slowish acceleration.
