How to foil the “Tyreextinguishers”

So I may be unleashing the dogs of hell with this post and at the same time I feel compelled to raise awareness about an emerging activist movement that aims to coerce SUV Owners ( like all of us on here ) into changing to a different type of transport.

In sharing this information I intend to focus on what is being done and how to protect against it as best as possible.

I am going to avoid passing judgement on why these activists are taking this action or offering any sort of an opinion.

My goal is to raise awareness to those who, like me, may be effected. So please don’t shoot the messenger!

So here goes:

The Tyreextinguishers https://www.tyreextinguishers.com/ have begun operating in Bristol, Edinburgh and other cities letting down tyres “in posh areas” ( their words not mine ) and leaving leaflets on the vehicles windscreens.

Having discovered this I decided to protect my vehicle as best I can with tamper proof tyre valve caps which I bought on Amazon for £10. See https://amzn.eu/d/e8AhbQI

If anyone can offer a more robust solution I, for one, would be pleased to receive it. TDV8 4.4 2012

Good idea, but what worries me, if these idiots can't let the air out through the valve they'll whack a stanley knife through the sidewalls. 2017 SDV8 Autobiography

+1 for Recordman's view, inconveniencing the morons will just encourage them to do more damage

What these a*holes need to learn is that just because they hold a certain view which may or may not be correct, it does not give them any right whatsoever to try and force that view onto others simply because they hold a contrary view. When that forcing starts to take the form of physical inconveniencing others and causing damage it has gone beyond the law and they need to be held accountable.

We still have relative freedom of speech and expression in this country, and I wouldn't wish to deny anyone of their right to hold a view contrary to mine, so long as they don't cause me inconvenience because of that. As soon as they do that they've crossed the line. It's time our law enforcers started to sort this situation out, it's been allowed to go on for far too long. Drives:

+1 I would prefer to pump up my tyre, than replace it. Hopefully these Censored idiots will get their just desert eventually.
The law enforcement appear not to be intrested any more ( Then what happens to them when they get caught!).

I might have to get a little tyre compressor that works off the cigar lighter, so far the ones I have looked at - seem a bit flimsy, and not up to the task of pumping up 20" tryes quickly Sad

Cigarette lighter ones really arent powerful enough for this job.

I got one of these and it's brilliant, no problem at all with the Rangie Tyres.

As I understand it the difference is that slashing the tyres would constitute criminal damage which is punishable in law ( unlikely these days but it is the law ) and so the activists risk police attention. With the “lentil in the cap” approach it’s more difficult to justify that any criminal damage occurred so less risk for the activists.

BTW; I found some better quality tamper proof caps here; https://carlightbulb.com/products/pair-cnc...&_ss=r TDV8 4.4 2012

Funny how you never hear of police vehicles being targetted. Whistle

I bet they'd take a bit more interest if they started to find the tyres on their X5's and Range Rovers had been tampered with by these people!

I think I am going to get a cordless tyre compressor powered by my lithium 18v DeWalt batteries, which I have about 7 of 8 in the shed, don't fancy hooking up a compressor to the battery in the engine compartment, or using the cigar charger, too many wires and cables to worry about, so far I have found this one on ebay for £45 quid

May get some of these

Already have this for tyre inflation duties although I doubt it would inflate 4 flat ones in a single charge

They are small minded and short sighted in times of harsh winter and snow those that volunteer their 4x4s to help others may now think differently if they have had their tyres slashed because of the car they drive.

I was reminded recently by a police officer if I was to find someone standing next to my car with a knife in hand I can defend my self....... Mr. Green
