On my old Disco 4 I had an issue on replacing the battery that it wouldn't work with a cheaper Energizer battery, I had to buy a decent (more expensive) Duracell Lithium type one and it worked fine then. Just a thought. FFRR SDV8 Autobiography |

And a good thought, too. I tested the ones I have, but you could well be right - especially if there is a more expensive solution! |

I had the same problem with my Suzuki with Maxell batteries, it worked fine when I put a Duracell in. Chris

The 'smart key' doesn't rely on battery power, it's essentially NFC technology - similar to that in your contactless debit card.

I presume you have placed your smart key in this location? I think once you have used your manual key you need to do this.

And the answer is: Duracell. Thanks to all - I should never have believed it, but the key clearly needs the full 3 volts to get it going!
