Given the robust construction of the egr heat exchanger l would be surprised if that was the source of your leak ( to be proven wrong), the egr thermostat is however a different matter. There’s two possible sources of leaks from the thermostat body, namely the bleed screw and more likely the rubber o ring that connects it to the heat exchanger.

NIce Day thanks, that's encouraging, given the price of the thermostat might as well change it out, i havent got the fluctuating temperature thing yet but it seems to take longer to warm up! |

If you are going to go for changing the engine thermostat, l definitely would, you will need to remove the engine viscous fan in which case removing the egr cooler complete with egr thermostat is straightforward.

To be honest if it's just the thermostat that's leaking I'll probably leave the cooler/egr in place, rather keep it stock as far as possible.
