I've never had success with a "visual inspection" of bushes etc. The RR is so heavy you just cant detect play. It's best when it's up on a ramp and you can put a 3 foot bar between the joints to detect play, or better still when the wheels are hanging. Any decent garage should do this.

I know the front has ball joints which are prone to wear and also anti-roll bar linkages which can cause this problem ! Had the same on my Merc S class and fitted 1 x cheap linkage on one side and 1 x genuine Mercedes linkage on the other - the genuine one lasted over 6 years - the cheap one 3 months ! Don't buy cheap parts it's not worth it in the end as you do the sam job twice |

I would echo what Dan said. Get a jack under the offending corner and give it a good tug in all directions. The dodgy bush should show up when their is no load on it. |

Fitted the new antiroll bar linkage and had a good tug and pry on everything whist I was there - fault/noise still there and nothing evident Does the rear shocks have bushes at the top ? could these wear and how easy is it to remove a shock absorber ? |

The top and bottom bushes that attach the hub assembly to the top and bottom wishbones are prone to wearing, check them. |

Suspect it's the shock absorber - are they easy to change ? |

Shouldn't be difficult, looks like 1 bolt top and bottom, the top will be inside the boot area. You might have to remove 3 bolts from the top mounting plate but I wouldn't think it necessary. |
