I’ve probably ordered the worse value autobiography out having deliberately ‘downgraded’ some of the spec to get the vehicle I want. However, I’ll have exactly the car I’m after, and I guess it comes down to what you’re prepared to pay. Heart over head etc etc. Mine is fortunately still priced as ordered at launch when I guess the gulf between HSE & Autobiography was closer than it is now. |

That's a good point Ricky, I hadn't thought about that - I'm guessing JLR have done something to the engine on the P510e to increase the horsepower....... Is that right? |

You might want to check this - as far as I’m aware, there is no price protection being offered on L460 (or any JLR product anymore). |

The only issue with the P510e AB is that it cannot be delivered with 4-zone climate. Top performance, ultimate spec IMO - except no 4-zone climate.... Not sure if the 3-zone in the P510e AB has fewer vents than others AB variants with 4-zone, nobody seem to have info reg this.

Thanks for sharing that Ricky, I didn't realise but that's really helpful.

Our dealer says that there are physical (& weight) differences between the straight 6 engines in the P440e and P510e, not just different tuning maps. And that these physical/weight differences affects the ability to provide 4-zone climate in the P510e.

Yes, the P400 has a 48V supercharger which the plug-in hybrids don’t. I’d be surprised if there’s much physically different between the AJ300 engines in the two PHEVs. |

A bit off topic, but if the only difference between the two I6 (AJ300) PHEV engines is the map tuning, why wouldn't LR offer the P510e in the LWB version as well? |

Can’t see that, short of bolting a turbo from a supertanker onto one of them, there will be an appreciable weight difference between two variants of the same single-turbo engine - there will almost certainly be a much bigger difference between the AJ300 and AJ300D, and you can have a LWB diesel. |

There is a 40kg+ weight difference between the 440e and 510e vehicles. I can’t believe 3 zone climate is heavier than 4 zone so there must be something else making the 510 heavier. A mapping change doesn’t make any weight difference either. I can’t see any other spec changes that would make a difference either so there surely must be a difference to the engine. |

Agree with you, IjM! There must be some physical properties (& weight) with the P510e I6 engine that prohibit LR from using it in the LWB version, and also prohibits them from using it together with 4-zone climate in the AB trim (4-zone should be heavier/take more space than 3-zone, I guess).

I don’t know the answer, but (as usual), some of the figures in the spec sheet look wrong - eg. P440e LWB has clearly incorrect maximum vehicle and trailer weight. If correct, there must be also spec differences accounting for the varying difference in SWB vs LWB weights (eg D350 SWB, 2505kg; D350 LWB 5 seat, 2569kg. P440e SWB, 2770kg; P440e LWB, 2810kg). |
