I'm in the process of converting myself also.

While everyone is entitled to their own opinion as this thread is a question I guess it depends how we use our cars. I look at the FFRR as a way to plod about in comfort and luxury. To me it's a big family barge.

That doesn't mean I'm not a petrolhead.
I'd just like an engine like that in the Jag, something a bit more sporty... or a Nissan GTR preferably.

I was actually about to buy a Nissan GTR a few weeks back and then found out baby number two is on the way. That put the brakes on that plan! The back seats in the GTR are pretty carp for space.

I think i would fancy the Diesel for a change , just to have the FBH for the winter ,,,

Diesel for me, most likely the newest you can get, but you have to ask yourself why has someone gotten rid of that 4.4 after only 2,700 miles ?

The autobiography may be a year older, but looks like a genuine nice car.....owned 1 year, then selling - I can understand that.

I doubt the SC will hold it's value as well as the diesel when they get to 4, 5, 6 years old.......

As Fox says, it'e personal, so think about why you want it.

As the diesel 4.4 is very fast for what it is, how much does that extra 1 1/2 seconds really feel from 0-60 ? Probably not much in a FFRR.

As I said before you don't have to buy the 5L Supercharged for the performance as I think the 4.4L TDV8 has sufficient performance and torque but I think the 5L is more refined than the Diesel no contest.

Think the 4.4 tdv8 is their Demo car

Have come from a BMW with a sub-5 second 0-62 and the 4.4 doesn't feel slow at all. Especially when you compare the 27.8 urban mpg vs 17!

But it still isn't that quick and for £££ vs Miles & Smiles these days I prefer to have fun when filling up with that amount of fuel.

I run a 4.4 V8 BMW Engine FFRR on LPG, and have an E60 M5 and E46 M3 Convertible for smiles..... Best of all worlds I find  Used to have:
2005 FFRR 4.4 Vogue - BRC LPG Conversion & Remapped

Now have:
2008 SSRR 3.6 TDV8 - HSE and plenty of toys

Is the 3.6 really that bad?

Its a great engine, definitely one of the best. Its just the 4.4 is even better!

And there is the biggest problem, buy the petrol and spend lots of tie you SHOULD be enjoying the FFRR, stood at the pumps and when its chucking it down and freezing are you really wanting to do that so much, especially as you have to hold the f'in nozzle in place and trigger due to H&S gone mad in this country....

If you lived on the west coast of the states or a warmer locality then maybe the SC would be a go for choice but in the real world i have to agree with the curly haired middle pudding yorkshire man on TV.

PS i'd chose the 3.6 with a remap, last of the line ones as well. less bugs and issues ironed out by then and just as good for 95% of the driving it would handle

Personally I would opt for the 5.0l as you can spend the time filling up admiring the car. A Supercharged just gives more satisfaction when driving (smile factor) The fuel cost is irrelevant if you can afford to buy and depreciate a new Range Rover.
