I have read that a non genuine front screen can cause the auto wipers not to work?

I had a non Gen screen fitted a few months ago and have tried everything to get the wipers to work with the rain sensor (no joy)
I have a quality scan tool which tells me the sensor and all connectors are ok, i also purchased All Comms from (Storey)
this also says everything involved with the screen and rain sensor are ok, is there something i missed?

Every part of the wipers and washers work no problem at all, just no rain sensor! if its on the RR i would like to use it.

I read owners manual, it says the 1st position on the wiper stork is the Auto position?
Any information will be greatly appreciated...great forum.

Yep, happened to me on my last car.

A non-Pilkington screen and the sensor for the lights and wipers never worked properly. Sometimes the wipers operated at random or not at all and the headlights sometimes turned on, sometimes didn't and sometimes turned off. But, if I set either to manual, they worked fine.

Came up with the error on IID over screen thickness. Calibration of the sensor did nothing and a new sensor also did nothing. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

It happened with mine, too. Diagnostics indicated the sensor was faulty so I bought another off eBay. While I was waiting for it, I read in the Faultmate help files that it might need a recalibration, so I did that and it worked.

I may be in the same boat, Autoglass are turning up today and I’ll be asking them to make sure it works, as they don’t have a Pilkington screen in stock and I need the car back for Monday as I’m off to a wedding!

Back again, has any of you used the All Comms to recalibrate the windscreen sensor ? if so could you share your expertise.
I appreciate any assistance you can offer.

Sensor appears to work. Autoglass techs said they’ve had it before with bad batches of glass being slightly too thick or thin throwing sensors off. His advice to me was to get the hose out tomorrow after the sealant has gone off and spray it with a fine spray and gradually move closer to make sure it comes on not just when it’s drenched as they can sometimes affect sensitivity of the sensor.

He did say they’d not had an issue for a while, but some of their warehouses take a while to cycle through old stocks depending on demand.

We have two L322 fatty's, both 2010 and both have had new screens within the last 3 months (bullseyed both of them, virtually in the same place as well). Anyway, Autoglass replaced both screens, on one the auto wipers work fine and on the other they have reverted to adjustable intermittent wipe, odd. Have reported to Autoglass and it's been referred to their warranty dept. so we'll see what happens. Drives:

That's bloody bad luck with the screens mate.

Sounds exactly the same as what's happened to my RR, it starts at 0 then intermittent (variable) and then 2nd speed and then full, oh and before 0 push down and it does one wipe,, does that sound right?
The sensor doesn't operate in any position.

I pulled the fuse for the rain sensor to convert them to intermittent.

G’day Graeme, is the rain sensor and the intermittent in the same position, what I mean is if you RR is set to rain sensor and you pulled the fuse did you move the wiper stork to another position? 😎🇦🇺

Intermittent uses the same position as auto but the rotational settings change the intermittent delay rather than sensitivity.
