Maybe another FFRR….

So to recap, we picked up an early L322 TD6 as a dog car in December from a member on here, mainly because our dog hates the Infiniti FX with such a passion that she’s sick within 5mins every time she goes in it ….so now the Infiniti is rapidly ceasing to be the family car! The dog car despite its age and being a cheap purchase is taking over most of the duties …now my better half has confessed to preferring to drive it.

So the logical next step is to replace the Infiniti and probably get another FFRR! The question we have is the L405 worth the premium over the late L322,s? L322 TD6 2003
Epsom Green- the dogs car which has worked it’s way into being the family car 😮

You prob need to drive both…. I went from a TD6 to a 4.4TDV8 L322 and, bar looking down the same bonnet when driving, it felt like a different car….

I’ve not had an L405, but the consensus seems to be that the L405 is a better car, but the last L322 is a better Range Rover….

The L405 is nearly half a ton lighter, and won’t rust, well, not on top anyway… that would be a big pull for me… without driving one.

Folk have made the change to L405 and then moved back to an L322, so might not be as clear cut as it first appears.

Having moved a year ago from a 3.6 Vogue to a 4.4 Westminster which was built in the final week of production, I can honestly say that there is NOTHING more recent from the LR stable which I wish I'd purchased instead. This is such a subjective matter you can only really answer that by trying the L405. Ideally doing the things with it you would expect to be doing once you had purchased.
Having tried both the L405 was the better car for me. Not the better car, just the better one for me.

Took me a year to get over swopping my westminster L332 for the L405 .

Now I really feel comfortable in the 4.4L 405 & wouldn’t switch back.

Moving onto the D300 460….Monday. And I do not expect any similar wrench as the L460 is just soooooo good. However if we all liked the same things the world would be a dark place. The Westie was really great.

Ask me in a month about the 460… good luck with your dilemma.


Bill Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

I have had TD6. 4.4 petrol and currently have a a 4,4 TDV8 L322 which is stuck in a garage awaiting a brake shield, as we tow horses 95% of the time we acquired an L405, it is nice but seems very 'car' like, does all the jobs but not as solid Very Happy

Thanks all we’ll have a look at an L405 and see what they feel like for us.

Is it a case of avoiding the v6 at all costs?, or should that be a realistic option? L322 TD6 2003
