The whole unit on mine was replaced under LR Approved warranty, but it is seven years since it was done.

The issue is caused by external grime etc. A good clean and lubrication with a spray cleaner working the actuator by hand should free it. |

If they've issues a Technical Bulletin on the problem does that mean that I would still have to pay to have it replaced with the latest version or is that something Land Rover would cover? Obviously given the age of the car there is no warranty on it. |

A TSB just gives a diagnosis & fix for specific issues, they are meant to 'short circuit' what can sometimes be a lengthy diagnosis path and prevent mis-diagnosis. It doesn't infer any post-warranty period liability, that is generally only safety recall territory. |

Personally I would remove the nut temporarily , get plenty of penetrating oil on it and get it moving freely up and down the spigot. You have nothing to loose, worse case scenario you will have to replace it.

The sticking could be at the butterfly spindle so don't just clean and lubricate around the nut - be liberal with the cleaning spray or fluid. |

Any idea why this part is described as a Compressor Shut Off Valve (CSOV) (part # LR033284) when it appears to be the turbo actuator? |

Which would make the others consequential DTC's - as Mikey highlighted, best to check for charge air leaks first. |

It isn't controlling the turbo - its function is to close-off the air going into the turbo. |

How do the other codes point to an air leak? Surely they just point to a pressure differential compared to what is expected so if the CSOV isn’t in the right position then all the error codes could be pointing to that? |

Do these photos look normal? Not sure about the vacuum hose that connects to the valve.

If you have a suitable piece of hose, pull the hose off the actuator and attach the new long piece and give it a good suck. Actuator arm should move by 90 degrees and close with a good 'thunk' when the vacuum is released. |

I have never tried this, but if you have got a draper oil suction pump, you could try connecting it to the hose and see if it moves as you build up pressure.
