Unless the signalling on MS CAN is different, I can't see why not - I suppose it's possible that the dock isn't getting the 'ignition on' message, that would prevent it working. |

Not really, you want to check each leg to ground, but that will only confirm activity, not the content of the data packets. If you can 'scope each line, you should see something like the photo below on the CAN-H line, the CAN-L will be similar but drop down below the baseline.

Just been checking my cameras again....... one of the two I had with power in them is now too flat to turn on. However. none of them show any voltage at all across the pins on the camera body (& yes, I tested my meter, with an AA battery). I'll try to find someone in the area with a working cam / docking station and hopefully try their camera in my dock & one of my cameras in theirs. If that works then I'll take the batteries out and try a circuit as per MikeO's post. Did you get any chance to measure the CAN voltage? |

Not yet, that will need to wait until I have a chance to get the dash taken apart, again

Maybe because mine had recently been removed from the dock? There is next to no info on how they interact with the dock other than the IR LED - mine works 'occasionally', which I'm putting down to the 2.4GHz band being saturated in towns.

I'm getting the same voltage on both sets of test pads - looks like your PCB has an issue... there is continuity between the -ve pads but a 2VDC differential between the +ve pads which indicates some sort of voltage processing / regulator between the two to me.
