I know Rambles...my son thinks it happened last weekend when we were in Dundee watching the football, the car was parked in a side street which was a bit tinksville and could well have been a target for some little with a grudge. |

Not nice at all, but better it's on a replaceable piece of glass rather than scratched into the paintwork.

If you get an automatic center punch you can crack the glass and get it on insurance - not that I'm suggesting that of course

Sorry Gary, that's utter b0ll0x. I've done a few over the years and all but the deepest scratches will come out with a little patience. I've also never noticed glass being any more shiny in the polished part. BTW, even deep scratches can be ground out by a specialist although this can start to have an effect of the optical trueness. Dom. |

We had a scratch polished out of a window on the house and although there is no scratch, there is now a "wobble" on the glass. Accross a large area, I think it would look a lot worse.. New window time I'm afraid! |

My shock was not aimed at you just the idea of many that polishing may even be an option on such a new and desirable car. |

Not in my experience and not in the experience of the professionals. I have personal experience of these people as well. http://www.glasstechnics.co.uk/scratchremoval.html Of course, if you're talking about some windscreen fitter, well they fit windscreens for a reason Oh and they have a vested financial interest in selling glass. Given the amount of damage that windscreen fitters usually cause I would always polish before replacing. Either way it sucks that there are such scum out there causing the damage in the 1st place. Makes my pi55 boil. One of the reasons I'm considering a job offer in the UAE. Don't tolerate that over there and I won't be paying UK taxes to keep the scum alive either. |
