Removing front door lock actuator L322 MY2012

My passenger front door lock actuator is playing up and will only lock or unlock in a series of small steps following multiple presses of the remote.

It looks like it is on its way out, so before it deadlocks closed I want to replace it. I have the correct new part but need guidance on how to remove the actuator once the door card has been removed.

Is there a decent thread or wiki on this procedure? The web seems bereft of guidance and what little I have gleaned, it looks like I'll need to remove the window frame bolts and lift the frame to assist removal of the door catch and actuator mechanism.

Any experience out there?

Disregard my last. It is a very straight-forward job and doesn't involve window channels at all.

It took an hour from start to finish, and removing and replacing the door card was the trickiest part.

Hi,

Any advice on this mate?
I need to replace driver side door actuator (I think!)
Happy getting door card off but not sure after that.
Any advice, tips welcome.
Haven’t ordered new part yet as not 100% on part needed (part number?)

As Jimmie says, once you have removed the door card, remove the bolts (3 or 4) from the door latch at the trailing edge of the door. You will be able to then reach inside the door and remove the latch mechanism. It has the actuator cable attached and the mechanical door handle cable. You will need to remove both, plus the rod leading to the door button/knob above.

You’ll need to swap the cover from your old unit to the new one and then refitting is a reversal of removal.

The part (for the MY12) is only available from LR and will cost you around £250-£300. I don’t recall the part number, however LR can help.

Jimmie, Stoutgoose, many thanks!

Aye it was pretty simple (even for me!)
Only problem now is it seems I may not have bust actuator at all 🤔
I plugged it into another doors socket to test and it did function (although certianly not as ‘snappy’ in its action).
And when I tried another doors actuator plugged into the drivers door it wouldn’t function.
So now I’m trouble shooting the electrics in the driver door I guess 🤪😵‍💫.

Thanks for your help.
