I've booked mine into Kwick Fit tomorrow for a test and recharge but I strongly suspect the compressor RCV valve is the problem. At this stage I'm not sure if it's worth spending around £1000 to have a new compressor fitted. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

Aircon working 'ok' with a lower ambient is typical for low refrigerant charge, it isn't 'ok' of course, it's just that the lower ambient puts less of a load on the system as there's less heat to recover. Same goes for flinging it round corners, the liquid that is in the system gets thrown around and temporarily increases the system pressure against the orifice, so there is a high/low pressure differential, which is how the system works. |

Interesting Phoenix, perhaps mine is just low on refrigerant then. It mirrors everything you have pointed out. |

Aircon systems are not complex beasts, they haven't changed in basic design since 1933, patented in 1935 and brought to the masses by Packard in 1939. It is, of course, just physics - but the operating principle is often misunderstood due to the enhancements and complexity of the air handling systems it is installed in. BTW, it's not my main systems speciality, just one I'm very familiar with, especially at this time of year. |

That is normally a transient fault and only affects the auto recirculation function - it will be overridden by a high aircon demand (or manual recirculation request) which will close the recirculation flap to aid fast cooldown to setpoint, once 80% of setpoint is achieved, then the recirculation flap will reopen, unless the air quality sensor prevents it. |

What was the ambient temperature when those screen shots were taken? |

I'll not be keeping the car that long but don't fancy going through summer with no aircon. At the moment I get cooler air by turning off the aircon so not sure what's happening there? 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

It's a long winded job to change the compressor. Make sure you take it to a specialist Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

I've seen the videos and It's just about possible to do it by removing the NS airbox but the workshop way is to remove the fan cowl. If it's the later I'll get them to replace the alternator as well. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |
