I wonder if having the cruise on alters what gear it might be in, or will drop early on an incline where you wouldn’t normally?

Could swap it in to top using the paddles? Just to get the rpm difference out the way of your investigation, one way or the other….

The OP stated they had used the paddles to check it was in 8th. Unless they are running very undersized tyres then the only plausible explanation is the TC is slipping or not locking. On the other hand if it was a 3.6 that rpm would be right for 70 but that can’t be an explanation can it….? 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Suspect you guys are heading down the wrong road.

I did say “ in the low to mid 70 mph range”. I also corrected myself earlier and said the rpm was closer to 1600. Topic title also points out it is the 4.4 engine.

OK thanks for the clarification but 1600rpm still seems high for that speed - can you confirm you are running stock 255/50 tyres on your 20" wheels? Listening to the sound of your engine in the other thread I'd be looking at this as a priority for a restricted performance warning possible cause. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Have you had a look at the 4 rubber hoses that go into the Intake Plenum, the large plastic 'donut' that sits underneath the big plastic engine cover. It's possible you have a minor split on one or more of the hoses that is allowing a little bit of air to escape from the intake, causing higher revs due to loss of turbo boost.
Take off the cover and have a good look over the hoses, see if there are any signs of soot or oil / gunk around the hoses. If you post a photo on here, we'll be able to tell if you've still got the old LR rubber hoses which have caused 99% of the problems you describe.

Loss of turbo boost won't change the revs vs road speed ratio as these are mechanically locked (assuming the TC is not slipping) 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

After a period where I wasn't getting any error codes I'm now getting the usual set, i.e. manifold absolute pressure and turbocharger boost pressure low.
