Despite depositing last late September / early October, although changing my order from a P530 to a PHEV P440e in February, I remain sat in a holding pool with no movement.

I'm actually considering placing another order and seeing which comes first - Whatever happens, I'm confident I'll get my money back.

Very good news, to good to be true really… Today I was informed by my dealer that my car (P440e) will arrive to their facilities next August!

Although I want to believe it, I'm very sceptical…

Is that August 2022 or 2023!? I sincerely hope you get it this August, do keep us posted. I don't think anyone has driven a P440e yet let alone taken delivery. I have one on order since Feb and was told probably March next year for delivery and that was ordered from the dealer's allocation of 30 FFRRs. I'm hoping that as the HSE spec was perfect for me and I didn't add any options it may come earlier. Here's hoping.

As another month comes to an end with no news my patience continues to be tested. I will phone the dealership tomorrow but it would not have hurt for the salesman to pick up the phone and say sorry still no date. letters not necessarily in the right order

It’s become a complete farce -

You go to dealer, deposit a car, spec the car and then just wait.
We did all of this back in Oct last year, attended the official launch, built the car we wanted on the configurator signed the order form. Then waited……told we would be able to test drive as soon as the demo arrived. The demo arrived at “our” dealer over a month ago (we know this as it was all over their social media) contacted salesman several times via e mail - he now no longer even bothers to reply 😂😂

Had a new BMW X5 45e PHEV delivered yesterday. Found it on new car locator the BMW UK stock. Contacted dealer last week, a couple of phone calls and e mails and it was transported up from a Sytner dealer yesterday. Usual key rings, bottle and flowers in the car. Very high spec with everything we needed apart from towbar (being fitted today by local bloke)
All done, no messing about - we now have a working, high spec car - with whilst not being a FFRR -
It will work, won’t have to go back for the numerous re calls and warranty work. Plus, it works out £50k cheaper 😱😱😱

All the time the 2nd hand “specialist” dealers continue to sell the new Range Rover at £30k overs.

We really have tried to look forward to this vehicle, but have now given up, if it turns up, when, who cares. Well done Land Rover - reap what you sow 😂😂😂😂👍

... that's a special Landrover thing ... the marketing for each new car starts more than 1 year in front of the customer deliveries.

But we all know ... isn't it? ... and pandemics and wars don't help at all .....

BMW are no better. I ordered an M3 and it was 6 month late. No information given by BMW customer service or dealer. The message was wait or cancel it's up to you. People who ordered months after me got their cars earlier. Some have waited up to 12 months with no obvious reason for the difference in treatment.

All manufacturers are fire fighting with supply chain issues at the moment and will be for some time. They could however generate some customer goodwill by improving the communication on the situation.

In my experience with BMW they are in a different league when it comes to customer service (having had more than 10 new BMW’s in the last 16years, with 3 of them new M3’s) they just don’t sell anything that competes with a FFRR !

All manufacturers are struggling with customers orders, unless that customer is Aklam/Saxton 4x4 car sales 😂😂

Seriously CDB, that is a very sad story.

It is indicative of where we are as a country, not just a JLR thing. People do not give a fig anymore and it'll take more than my lifetime to get over the ravages of Covid, Brexit and Ukraine because that is the excuse for everything now. People need to get off their arses and get back to work. Hate to say it but a bloody good recession will concentrate the minds.

I've only just seen your comment 7 CDB..... As Chalky says, I'm sorry to read this but I'm not surprised, as I could have written the above bit myself!!!

I think you've done the right thing though 7 CDB, but you shouldn't have had to do it.

Likewise, I don't care when this car comes anymore, I'm just fed up with the whole process. There's no joy left in it, it'll arrive when it arrives.

As you know, I've still got my Dec 21 5.0 SC AB LWB, so I have something to see me through, as you do now with the X5.

JLR have always been poor on customer service in my opinion, but at present it's almost non-existent. That said, it seems customer service has vanished from almost all sectors, so JLR aren't on their own - It seems to be the new norm!

Hopefully, company's and their employees will start to reconsider their attitude when the cost of living crisis starts to really kick in and people stop spending their accumulated Covid cash.

Hi

Bit of an update - the dealer randomly e mailed me last Friday to say say hello and to inform me that the car that we ordered is still as of now nowhere further on and he doesn’t know when it will be available 😂😂

But, more importantly we had a nice Jubilee weekend away to see some friends in Norfolk and took the X5. All I can say is wow they really have moved things on with this new one !! It is specced up with all the toys, most of the optional packs are on it and one that my wife loves are the massaging seats 😂😂
But, the ride is absolutely sublime. We had a new X5 40d M Sport in 2017 and although it was a quick car the ride was very harsh and we enjoyed changing over to a new FFRR L405 - but this version really does exceed them both in every way.
I had read that Harry from Harry’s Garage had ran one on a long term test and he was impressed with it and rightly or wrongly I do follow his advice more than most of the motoring journos out there. So we ordered it without a test drive and the wife was a bit meh with it all as it was a BMW and she gets a bit bored with me forever changing her car 😂😂 but, she absolutely loves it and after the FFRR, Porsche Taycan cross tourismo, Aston Vantage , older X5 she has point blank told me that she wants to keep this one !!!!

It has worked out as specced to £92k compared to the new FFRR AB PHEV 510 now coming in @ £143k fully specced and even after seeing our first new FFRR on the road at the weekend- it will have to absolutely blow us away on the test drive to change out of the new X5.
I get that it’s just a BMW and always thought that the FFRR and worth the extra because it’s a Range Rover but, BMW do know what they are doing,
and for me have really upped their game with this one! And that is taking into account the new car buzz.

The good thing is now - I’m not waiting and waiting on some salesman to allow me a test drive and to receive the new Range Rover, we now have a car that flys under the radar (something that she likes) is ergonomically brilliant and just does it’s thing without the never ending warranty issues.

We shall now sit back, enjoy what we’ve got and either take the new FFRR and flip it if the markets still strong, keep it or not bother with it knowing that we have a nice working car anyhows 👍👍

As of last Friday, mine is being built (have the VIN) and delivery is expected 8/26. With it being an AB V8 in BRG, I still find that date highly optimistic and am not holding my breath. That date has already been pushed back twice since my order was officially slotted. But, we've finally started to see some L460s trickle into Dallas, so maybe there is hope.

Has anyone heard of any customer spec cars being slotted or delivered in the UK market yet?

I'm being told 18 months from now for mine. Possibly 2 years. And they keep changing allowed specs on the system (despite the configurator allowing them).
For example, my P440e order no longer can have dynamic response but a p510 can. My BRG paint is no longer allowed on an Autobiography but would be if I upgraded to SV (but then I can't have the burgundy interior). All very odd. They won't be building it for 18-20 months...
