“Anti-roll bar linkage ball joint dust covers”?

The most recent MOT on the 2008 L322 that I’ve recently bought, from last August, says that both front, “anti-roll bar linkage ball joint dust covers are severely deteriorated.”

I don’t have the truck at hand or I’d crawl under there to see what they’re referring to (I’m in Japan and won’t see the thing until June 17). I’d like to buy the replacement part ahead of time so I can get to work on it right away… can someone explain to me exactly which linkage part the MOT is referring to? Is it the drop links? If yes I’ll replace the whole link, not just the dust cover.

Thanks.

It's the drop links, the MoT wording is a bit old-fashioned sometimes and doesn't necessarily exactly refer to the part or assembly to be replaced, just the observed defect.

Perfect, many thanks. As an aside, I’ve also noticed that the MOT gives a registration date of October 2008, and the seller said it was a 2008. But the VIN clearly says that it’s a 2009 model year. It’s common practice in the US for a model year to be sold and registered in the preceding year and yet still be referred to by its model year… what’s the practice in the UK? When I go to sell this thing at some point, is it correct to say it’s a 2008 or a 2009? Sort of important to know the model year, I’d think, given that in the case of the drop links I’m seeing a difference apparently between the part number for 2008 and 2009….

Practice here in the UK is to go with the year on the log book, so 2008 for sale purposes.
Happens a lot with registration dates, I have a Sept 2015 L405 that is actually a 2016 model but was advertised as a 2015 when bought, hope that helps.
