Automatic Headlights

Afternoon all.
I have had my Westminster 2012 for a couple of weeks now so am getting used to the gadgets. Really like the cooled seats. Sound is good if you turn the vol up. TV quite fun.
However I am very surprised that there are no automatic lights. I know this is a ten year old car but I took it for granted that it would have them. My 2003 XK8 has them!
My question is; Is it possible to retrofit this? I even thought the wiring might be present behind the current manual switch.

Any help appreciated. I really miss the feature

And if that doesn’t work, you may have the ‘auto lights and wipers’ wiring fault which has been experienced by a few of us. 2017 Jaguar F Pace 25t Portfolio - still part of the JLR family 😀
2009 3.6 V8 (MY2010) - my first ever diesel! - now also gone Sad
2004 4.4 V8 Petrol Vogue - now gone

Thank you, but I have no position 4.
Previous car is a Freelander which had the auto lights on position 4 as on your picture.
I can’t believe this wasn’t standard on all models. Unless it has been replaced for some reason with an old switch.
Auto wipers are present and seem to work

It is standard on 2012 Westminsters. Yours must of been replaced.

I couldn’t find the spec of Westminsters anywhere. Thanks. I will remove my switch and hope to find a couple of wires going nowhere.

Brilliant, thanks. There in black and white! I can only assume that someone has replaced the original with the wrong switch.
Cheers

As you say, hopefully a quick look behind the switch will reveal all….. or not… and you will be more confused….

I’ve seen a YouTube about removing the end dash panel to get at the switch. Looking at a picture of a switch it looks like you can remove it separately if you are careful. Has anyone done this or do you have to take the whole panel off?
Thanks

The Workshop Manual is available in the Wiki… top right under the fullfatrr banner. Should be in there.

My 08MY Vogue had auto lights and my 12MY Westminster certainly has them. I'd be very surprised if all FFRR's didn't have this feature after about 2007. Confused The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

Update.
Switch upgraded. Headlights and Wipers not working on auto so realised I must have the wiring fault. Sorted it in a couple of hours with the help of the forum history. Very easy to do so now very chuffed. A bit daunting to start with but located the broken wires very quickly. Did not have to take the seats out just loosened back bolts and removed front ones and tilted back the seat.
It’s great this forum!

Ah, I remember the posts with those broken wires on now, think they caused other problems too.

Guessing a previous owner changed the switch, rather than manage to fix the fault.

Excellent result.
