Hi, I’ve a car with a slight hole in the rubber driver’s door seal (pictured). What’s the best black coloured adhesive or sealant to neatly repair/plug this please?

The seal is otherwise in excellent condition but I want to reduce the risk of water getting in the hole and causing underlying damage.

I doubt whatever you do the end result will either not work or fail shortly after. I’d be inclined to bit the bullet and buy a new seal.

Have you tried super glue? 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

How about a bicycle puncture repair kit, should do the job.

Thanks for the replies. A new seal is £771.66 plus VAT.

There’s no wind noise and the seal is otherwise very good. I’ve tried Loctite Super Glue 3g Ultra Gel. Repair looks tidy and as though it has worked. Time will tell…

Puncture repair kit was on my list as well 👍🏻

£771.66 plus vat. Good god, I’d live with the hole.

That’s why I opted for a £1.50 tube of glue 😂

I used something like this on some very flexible shoe soles, black and quite flexible, not too expensive if the current repair doesn't hold

A bit of black gaffer tape. Sorted!!

I would second Merchy''s suggestion for Stormsure adhesive.

It's designed to seal leaking wellies etc, and does the job well

I used the above mentioned Loctite glue yesterday and it seems to be a tidy and strong (very minor) repair, although not water tested yet (albeit the glue dries clear and not black which isn’t good for my OCD

Also ordered a tube of the Stormsure adhesive today which should arrive tomorrow and which looks/ sounds just the job 👍

Ps… tried gaffer tape and couldn’t get it to stick. Maybe my roll of tape isn’t so good

Pps… the reason I examined the seal was because I noticed a very small area of carpet smelling damp on the driver’s door sill which is surrounded by said seal - seal is one piece and goes all the way around the driver’s door frame and sill. When I found the pictured hole I wondered if water had gotten inside via that hole and had maybe pooled in the sill area near the carpet, hence slight musty/ damp smell. The car doesn’t get exposed to rain, it’s garaged and it’s only my washing hose likely to be causing any wet carpet… so the morale of the story is, stop washing it

use black pu sealer like tiger seal pump some in the hole and let it come out leave it dry till next day and then cut of surplus and shape it new vehicle purchase
