United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Baltic Blue

Rear Washer jet is likely to be either a knackered non return valve or crap blocking the passage it passes through in the motor.

When you try and operate the handbrake can you hear the electric unit operating at the back of the car?

Intermittent reverse camera is usually a sign of the camera starting to fail. PowerfulUK do replacements that are better quality then original and are much cheaper then LR.

Bluetooth on these is very basic, phone only. You can update the module to a 2012 module which will allow you to see signal strength and have better access to your phone book but using Siri or whatever the Android equivalent is to tell it to phone someone is much easier.

I've never looked at the codes in the secret menu on mine to be honest. I believe they only relate to the nav system though but could be mistaken.

And one seat when folded locked in place.

Quick search of the forum found culprit (sticking locking mechanism behind the seatbelt holder) tools out trim off, mechanism off, good clean wiggle and refit. All good. 2007 4.2SC Buckingham Blue

And a full list of what needs fixing so far;

Reversing camera - ordered from powerfulUK
Bonnet and tailgate struts - ditto
Rear washer no water - need to examine
Rear centre armrest needs retaining bolt for hinge bar
1 rear seat belt cracked
Passenger sun visor bracket broken
Venturecam battery dead
1key no remote - new one ordered from Duckworths.
It also has a funny aftermarket immobiliser type button on the steering column you have to press to turn the key - any ideas?
Seatbelts all slow to retract
Rear ashtray covers scabby and broken
Trim below EPB missing
TV very dodgy - few channels most of pictures intermittent sound
RSE not working

So nothing scary

Drives really well, had a 40 mile round trip yesterday up A12 to Ipswich for air con regas. Drove really nicely, suspension lovely and smooth and no clonks anywhere. Goes well and did 20.5 mpg Cool Cool

Gearbox very smooth very slight thunk as it changes down to first but otherwise superb. I had same box in my Toerag (I think) and feels much better here.

Tried 30 - 70 in kick down this morning (when fully warm) and very impressed. Quite a jolt from 1000rpm at 30 but flew down the road. Nothing broke.

Small lip on discs but allow for now. Callipers look a bit worn so new discs and pads and calliper refurb and paint later this year I think.

Am assembling all necessary fluids, filters, pumps, tools, ramps (mine are too narrows and videos for service and full fluid change in coming weeks.

Happy days Mr. Green Mr. Green

And a few bulbs to replace.

And passenger mirror completely dead - need to source a suitable used one.

I think I will go down the full led route inside and out (apart from Xenon’s) including projector puddle lights under wing - we have on Evoque and they are cool..

Other Upgrades I’m thinking about so far

NaviPlus
2012 Bluetooth module
If I can figure out how, adaptive cruise control
Similarly surround cameras

Thanks

A little tip regarding the seat belts, fully extend them & using your wife’s best dishcloth, gently clean both sides of the belt, then the magic bit, spray the belt webbing both sides with Mr Sheen & you’ll find the belt is a bit like Arkwright’s till in Open all hours, it’ll recoil at the speed of light!
Hope this helps.😁 2012 Orkney Grey Westminster 4.4TDV8 with Ivory interior.........nice!

Thanks Fox - have heard that one and will try that

And thanks David. Yes it could have been a lot worse.

Sadly no on the XJ, it’s a 2012 Portfolio 3.0d. It’s my son’s and he does about 30k miles a year for work in it. Probably good it’s not the V8 Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Goodies arrived today Laughing Laughing

So I now have a bonnet and tailgate that hold themselves open and a nice new reversing camera.

Everywhere I look is bone dry with no sign of water ingress so far Thumbs Up

Also air con still ice cold. It was completely empty at regas on Saturday morning so risk of dry and cracked seals. So far good as gold. 2007 4.2SC Buckingham Blue

Just noticed your list above regarding adaptive cruise control and surround cameras.

They were never an option on the earlier cars and were optional extras on later ones. Be interested to see how you get on with a retrofit though Smile

Hi David

I've seen a thread on retrofitting the adaptive cruise to D3 (not an option and similar to L322 02 - 09) D3 and RRS. So it is definitely in the maybe possible camp

It would be good to do without doing a 2010 facelift as I prefer the older look but given I may or may not need to replace the bumper that may be a route I go down.

Also to add to the fixes required - I have examined the badly crushed O/S sill cover and it looks like it is just the cover damaged and the lower door cover above it (badly stuck on with mastic from the look of it). I couldn't see any dents in the sill itself underneath. A quick browse on Ebay and used sill covers seem to be about £30 and lower door covers about £40 - just need to find right colour and good enough condition.

How is colour fade on these cars? I'm going to need to do a bit of rattle-canning as paint worn away completely on most door openings at bottom and some of the bad touching up.

Thanks

The D3 and RRS are very similar cars with different bodies.

The RRS had adaptive cruise on it from a very early age so retrofitting it to a D3 I'd imagine is fairly simple.

Look forward to seeing how you get on with it as it's something I'd potentially do to mine too.
