I passed a Cullinan (no I wasn't racing , he was going slowly)on the A1 M last week and I thought it was a new RR from the back until I got quite close. First time I'd seen one.

I'm sure it's a lovely car as is the Bentayga, but for looks, I don't think there is another SUV on the road which looks as good and refined as a FFRR. Not biased though Thumbs Up

I could never afford the other cars, but I agree with AJA, the FFRR is a bit special no matter what the price tag. All LR cars from 1984

For me, I didn't buy The Cullinan for it's looks (which are definitely subjective), I bought it because I believed it would be better than a Range Rover by a significant margin - Truth is, it wasn't - It was actually just a bit dull.

Most importantly, I've had Range Rovers for 15 years now, and the L405 just felt more like home.

My opinion is that the Cullinan is probably a slighter better car, in terms of build quality, materials used, etc, but this benefit is minuscule, and nowhere near worth the extra ££££'s, so I was happy to go back to the L405 LWB.

In terms of the Cullinan vs The L460 - I think the gap is going to be even smaller now compared to the L405.

There will of course always be that slight reduction in the quality of materials used within the build of an L460, but it will be just that, "slight" and I honestly think, that will be the only real difference - That and of course the exclusivity associated with the Rolls-Royce badge.

Yeah, I don’t think Land Rover will be able to compete on “badge” terms. Suppose it’s like when Ford built the GT40…. It might have beat Ferrari at Le Mans…. But it’s got the wrong badge, so would have to be considerably better to be considered equal….

That said, a Range Rover, at least for most of its life, like the Defender, used to be seen as “classless” ie it could be a plumber driving it or Prince Philip… no offence to any plumbers….

100% mjdronfield........ A Land Rover / Range Rover is classless and timeless.

Although I'm lucky enough to have a few different cars, the one I do the most miles in is my 2007 L322 (worth about five grand). I just love it and always feel proud to drive it. It's the car I drive literally everyday with my dogs.

The Rolls-Royce badge of course will always have the edge over a Range Rover, but with that comes problems, like nipping to Sainsbury's.

Unless you live in London, Cheshire, Dubai or similar, unfortunately, the reality is that it's not a very usable car.

An L405 or new L460, will give you 9/10th's of the comfort and enable you to take it anywhere, without having to give it a second thought when parked up.

Also, if I'm completely honest. I'm at a point in my life where I no longer want the attention.

Laughing Laughing Laughing

I would have actually really liked the starry headliner, but would have never sat in the back, so didn't spec it.

As for the Guv'na bit, yes of course - You've got too Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Joking aside though, it's one of those things you think you want, but then when it arrives, sadly you discover it's not all that!

Did less than 200 miles in it.

I didn’t get on with the Rolls Royce at all when I had one on extended demo. It was beautiful to drive and fabulously comfortable but has a serious image problem IMHO. As if a Range Rover isn’t bad enough in some applications!

I have once behaved like this here and was rightly admonished and I apologised, this is not the Piston Heads Lounge and I tried to make my response to you courteous.
One of the things I particularly enjoy about this Forum is like the cars themselves we are above such things. letters not necessarily in the right order

In all honesty the RR is most probably one of the automobiles on most kids wish list! At least on mine since seeing the first one in the '70. Since then, they only got better. RR HSE TDV8 4.4 2012
