Australia 2019 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Corris Grey
Landrover Dashcam

Hi Guys,
I have just had the Landrover Dashcam fitted to my 2019 Range Rover autobiography SDV8 all works well except for the live view, which will not load. I have tried 2 different cameras with same results. My question dose anyone else have the Landrover Dashcam front and rear and if so dose the live view on the app work.
Thanks

Yes...

Obviously you need to have the connection with the phone, but if the tiny circle by "HOME" in the top banner is green and not red then live view comes up, and you can swipe between front and rear cameras. Mike - MPx

Thanks for the reply, I can record playback on my IPhone even take photos, but when I tap the live view on the app I get nothing just the circle showing the app trying to connect plus will not scroll to the rear camera. So everything works except the live view on the app. So I guess my question is do you get a live view when you tap the live view on the app home page?
Thanks

Yes, that's how I see it, just tap the live view square. If its not connected already then I get a prompt to connect at that point, but as long as I say yes and am in range etc then it connects and I see what the cameras see.

FWIW - iPhone 6s/ios 15.3.1 so pretty old tech. Mike - MPx

Ok thanks, I can confirm I am connected, when I tap the live view on the app I just get a grey screen with the loading circle spinning and then nothing, cannot scroll to the rear camera.
Landrover here have no idea what the problem maybe in fact they were checking to see if there was a live view.
As I mentioned everything else is working.
Thanks

Sadly it appears that LR know very little about their own app. I have an issue with how to delete files - I've been waiting a couple of months now and despite chasing, just get told they're waiting for an update from the relevant team.

The issue is that although files on the flash card are normally overwritten as required, the "saved files" are not overwritten for obvious reasons. I get triggered events saving files if I hit a pothole or speed bump or similar. Over the last 18months it means that most of the capacity on my flash card is now permamnently saved files and I only get so many minutes of the latest journey before its overritten. No-one at LR appears to be able to tell me how to delete these files - I cant find anything in the app or the manual. Obviously I could reformat the card and start again but that's not really very useful and particularly not if there was a file I needed to keep. Interested to hear how everyone else deals with this?? Mike - MPx

Assuming you can remove the SD Card, remove it and stick into a PC. Save the files you want to keep to the PC and re-format it. MY23 D350 HSE

Thanks Phil, and yes I get that - indeed other sledge hammers are available - eg multiple cards. Just seems like quite an oversight in the app though given that is designed as the sole interface to the device. At first I thought it was just me not finding the right menu but since approaching LR I'm surprised its not been fixed - adding a delete function cant be hard, especially as they already have one to delete any downloaded files (still leaves the source untouched unfortunately). But maybe I'm the only one who's bothered. Mike - MPx

I’ve used various dashcams and their apps over the years and am yet to find one that’s good. That includes Garmin and Blackvue. MY23 D350 HSE

Finally got the official word back from LR and Phil was right, their prescribed option is to reformat the card and start again. Oh well...done that and at least I'll get a full journey's worth of recording now until the pothole/bump inspired "accident" saves clutter up the card again. Mike - MPx

MJG I would love to see some photos of how this looks installed, any chance you could share some, please? I am a bit worried how bulky it is, you see. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

Hi, I have attached some photos of the Land Rover camera installed in my range Rover AB,
To be honest it does not look bulky and you can hardly see from the outside of the car. I did allow a dealer to drill a small hole for the cable for the rear camera, I do believe it looks a lot more tidier that way. The app works okay on my iPhone although I still cannot have live view direct to my iPhone, do I need it probably not. Is there better dash cams? I’m sure there is however the Land Rover camera is made to fit.
Overall happy enough with the cameras and install.

Very useful, thanks for sharing. Yes, there are certainly better cams but it’s the made to fit situation that also draws my attention. I’ll probably get this, my concerns have been allayed. Thumbs Up L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

I had mine fitted by our own Cam Tech Craig. The front is exactly as MJGs so obviously looks identical but for the rear instead of going with the LR prescribed position at the top of the rear window as shown by MJG, Craig fitted it very low down on the window. While it was much harder for him to fit, its a very neat job indeed and doesn't intrude at all on the sight lines - ie you simply don't see it from inside the car unless you look for it, not even in the rear view mirror as its so low. A super job!

As I've got privacy glass you can't see anything from outside the car either - although there is a feint white dot visible when its on if you look for it. Mike - MPx
