It’s a bit of a lottery to be honest, some come off easy while others seem to have been tightened up by the Incredible Hulk.

Laser one is OK but obviously you risk a chance of damaging items if you needed to give it a thump to break the seal.

I used one from Island 4X4, Still had to give a couple of good thumps before it shifted though. |

£14 Halfords. Spray the nut first, drink a cup of tea, spray again. Put spanner on, and with a medium hammer, and a thick gloved right hand, hit the spanner to the right, and catch the spanner with the right hand. About 4 inches away. Takes a few. Hits. |

I ended up using a cold chisel to get it loose |

Large adjustable spanner and an £8 ebay 36mm special . Clouted the adjustable once and the nut undid |

I bought a cheap 36mm open ended straight shaft spanner, put an extension tube on and it cracked off quite easy. Was expecting to struggle but it is quite a new fan so I'm happy. |

if you use a chisel, you are stressing the bearing on the water pump, with every hit...and that can make the seal fail, ...either will cause the water pump to leak/wear/fail. |

There was no other way to get it loose and more 2 years down the line, no water pump issues |
