Rear brake caliper Right part number but doesn’t fit

I ordered a new N/S/R brake caliper as the current one has seized (caliper pins have been checked, cleaned an reseated and slide just fine) I checked in microcat to confirm the correct part number and referenced another site just to be absolutely sure prior to ordering. Part arrived (TRW) with all the same markings/numbers on the casting but where the banjo bolt would go for the rear brake hose the depth is completely different. My current banjo bolt has a thread length of 10mm but the new caliper has a thread depth approximately half this. TRW part number is BHU342E (LR part number LR015583G).
My original caliper is a genuine Land Rover one and I suspect original from factory. Other calipers I have looked at are listed as for the 3.6 TDV8 rather than the 4.4 TDV8 I have. Has anyone else come across anything similar when changing their own caliper at all? 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE

I've just been and measured the banjo bolt end on a new hose I've got and it does protrude 10mm, so that's right.
I replaced mine with genuine TRW ones and had no problem.
Sods law I can't find the receipt with the part numbers!!
If yours have the big brembo's on the front then that is the correct part number I think.
Manufacturing fault?
Could you ring your supplier and have them look at another one in stock?

Hi Kevin Many thanks for the quick reply and for taking the time to check your banjo bolt for me. I do have the 6 pot Brembo on the front. Like you I’m thinking this is a manufacturing fault, it certainly looks as though it’s not tapped out deep enough. I’ve contacted the seller (well known LR parts seller) but suspect I won’t hear back now until Monday 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE

The TRW callipers come with a sort of aluminium plug in the banjo hole which can lead one to believe that it’s the wrong part - ask me how I know Banging Head Banging Head Banging Head Banging Head

Now that I have stopped laughing....dennij, if you are in a tight corner and cannot wait to get the caliper exchanged, to get the car back on the road....one option is below

If the drilled hole is the correct depth, but not threaded all the way, you could get a tap set and tap the thread yourself, use the taps in the correct order and it should be fine. tap sets are not too expensive. Just have the caliper upside down in a vice to stop any swarf entering the caliper when cutting the threads. If you have never tapped threads before, then it would probably be best to ignore this option, just an idea to help out.

I seem to recall that it was threaded and I wedged a screwdriver or similar in and got it out; I’m going out to the shed soon so I’ll see if I still have the little plug - I’ve probably kept it in the ‘just in case tin’.
