Electrics have died on me! But the battery is almost fully charged
I unlocked the car and then tried to open the boot but nothing, then I noticed no lights in the car, dash or infotainment and got "smart key not recognised". I did the "key under the steering wheel" but still the same message.
I had to leave it a couple of days because I was away. Came back and its completely dead electrically. Tried disconnecting the battery for a few mins but nothing. I tried charging the battery (which showed three quarters charged) the surprisingly lights on the centre consul came on, the rear tail lights came on. the clock whizzed round and there was a buzzing from fuze box. But I still cannot open the glove box or start the car and now no "smart ket not recognised"
I am thinking this is not good news!!

It wouldn't hurt to try a hard reset. Disconnect the battery leads and leave disconnected for around 30 minutes, then touch the 2 leads together for around 30 seconds and then reconnect the leads back to the battery. I would also fully charge the battery prior to reconnecting just to be sure it's carrying the correct charge. 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE

Whilst you said that you charged the battery and said it was three quarters charged, have you measured the actual battery voltage ? Check that first and check all battery / earth connections. plus hard reset as in above post.

Well, I checked with the multimeter and its only reading 4.8v which could explain the problem. I had assumed (possibly incorrectly) the battery was ok because its only 18 months old and when it was serviced 2 months ago I was told the battery was as new.
Now its on charge but its telling me that its 85% charged and only a couple of amps are going in. I will leave it on the charger for a good while 2016 L405 SDV8 Vogue SE

Sounds like the battery may be goosed, had the same type of problem a while back, all kinds of weird faults, fitted new battery and bingo, all ok. At the time I was using an old battery charger, that gave false indications on the gauges then used a meter to check and realised my battery was dying.

One of the golden rules in engineering is......'Never ASSUME anything, always CHECK everything'

Our cars `MUST` have a good battery. I also had a new 18 month old battery that failed, it had a 2 year guarantee? when I returned it it was tested on the counter and was told nothing wrong? Goodbye. went somewhere else and got a more expensive one with better after sales.

Bear in mind that a new battery needs a battery reset in the diagnostics otherwise the alternator will cook it. Christian.

You could try connecting a battery charger and see if everything works, if it does new battery time.

I agree about the quality of the battery.
I have had it on charge and its now reading 11v but a couple attempts to start it soon drains it.
I have a heavy duty charger with a jump start function but even with the 11v I still cannot get the starter motor to turn (and that's another problem I have been having- intermittent stater motor)
