Don't we all. Mines going in next week to have the rust all sorted but I'm also having the arches replaced as I've got the panels for them as well so be an expensive month but will be worth it. Rust will get sorted next week then a month later I'll get it in for spraying unless the other range sells before then but I've gotta get that motd and as luck would have it, I've gotta take it on the trailer with the 4.2 as the old one don't have insurance, tax or mot. Lot of work for driving 1.3 miles each way but I won't take the risk

If you want to get rid of your old one, have a look at day insurance. I had already replaced a car of mine before my old one was collected a couple of years ago.

When the buyer flew into Glasgow I used a day insurance policy to allow me to go and meet him with it. Cost me around 20 quid and would let you take your old one for an MOT without needing to use the trailer

I tried them but as I live in East London, guess what it's not even insurable. Spoke to my own insurance and they wanted £130 for a day. Asked them so how do you justify that price considering a whole year is £800 on a 4.2sc?

I'm gonna speak to the garage. I'm assuming they will have trade policy so might offer them a drink if they come n collect it

So minor up date today.

Started off with swollen nuts so managed to get them off and I'll get them replaced with the spare ones @fox889 sent me so cheers for that one pal. Once these was off I was going to have a look at the handbrake as that was a failure on the mot list. Unfortunately this one come to a premature end as it turns out the shields securing pin hole is pretty rusted and even with the securing washer behind it, it's still too loose however I've figured up another way how to rectify this

Dont want to take my sill covers off now

So today managed too come up with a fix for the rear brake shield and the hand brake. Piece of 2mm flat steel, drill a hole, stick the the plate inside the axle stand and force a bend into it. Hey presto it works so hopefully that will be enough to get it through the brake test.

Next job is to do the cv boots but the garage is going to do that as well as the welding

Well the 2k supercharger turns into something that rhymes with pit. Decided I'm going to get it mot worthy and then do it all properly later in the year when it's warmer and I have more daylight. Doesn't help I only work lates so I'm heading to work at 1530pm

Given that by the time I’m finished mine in a few days time, it won’t have one bush or ball joint anywhere on the car that’s not been changed, I’m almost scared to take the cill covers off mine. 🙈

There’s a local place called Preserve and Protect that do welding and under sealing locally, I’m tempted to throw it in there when I’m finished with all the work underneath it to get it sorted out and sealed up.

I just went down to my local paint shop and got some black underseal/waxoyl from hammerite. I think in your case like mine, I'd do it so it's roadworthy and you get too know the car then get the arches done properly when the time suits.

I'd look into it ASAP, just don't forget to pull the spash guard off. Never know might not be as bad as you think.
