Cheers Mark (nmj)… very happy with the RR… the current TDv6 has been the definition of enjoyable, trouble free motoring… service time next month 👍

And to confirm my last post on this thread, the car was serviced at the MD yesterday with no dramas. Just one advisory from the Tech that the front discs are slightly lipped on the inside and the pads are getting near to the wear indicator. An over cautious appraisal methinks but even so that’s 3.5 years out of a set of genuine front LR discs and EBC pads. So I’m ordering the same again, EBC greenstuff 6000 pads have been excellent 👍

Still going strong and it’s next adventure for this coming week is a long trip with a rather large car transporter trailer hooked up to the deployable tow bar… my first towing experience Shocked

Good Stuff Ryan.

Take care with the tow, if it’s your first time a large transporter will be stable enough but give the corners a good wide berth as the trailer will follow on a slightly narrower line on tight bends when maneuvering. So while you will miss the apex with the car the trailer will track slightly tighter and could catch you out…. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Well we had a challenging time even trying to load the car on to the trailer. Took about 2 hours all in and some strategic scouring of the garden and then positioning/ moving heavy duty planks (we found in the garden) on to the trailer ramps just to get the car safely up the ramps without grounding the front end/ nose of the car… then the exhaust box looked like it would catch the entry point of the trailer and so we had to position wooden blocks to get that part up and over safely… and that was all before we secured the car to the trailer with ratchet straps (another palaver)… god knows how I’m going to get the car off at the other end… Shocked

The moral of the story is make sure the trailer hire company gives you ramp extenders and in fact, just pay someone to transport the thing! Can’t wait for tomorrow, not!

Well, that was an experience. Set off alone for a 200 mile trip at 4am in pitch dark, blustery winds and very heavy rain with a car on the trailer… first time towing… was a nervous wreck for first couple of hours fretting the trailer would come off or the car would come off the trailer or both Laughing

Anyway, the TDv6, it’s deployable towbar and the Auto Speed Limiter set at 50mph ensured there was nothing to be concerned about and in truth, the RR did the job standing on its head (metaphorically speaking)… slows journey time down though thon towing lark😂👍

Been regularly browsing on the LR website and AT for the last few weeks at other L405s… so we know what’s likely to happen next.

But, wouldn’t be “the brand new shape”, not enthused about the CTC to a 2018MY onwards (particularly as it won’t be the newest shape anymore anyway) and so, would probably end up with more of the same!

And… given ours is just right (for us in so many ways) in fine mechanical and cosmetic fettle with a nice spec including the seemingly rare electrically deployable towbar - and was the other week main dealer serviced at just 85k miles/ given another clean bill; and is about to have new front discs and pads; and still has the ongoing LR Extended Warranty; and I’d inevitably end up starting again to get the ‘new one’ as pristine as this one (it’s had some amount of TLC in our 5 years ownership)…

Keep thinking, what’s the point… exhausting Neutral

Don’t normally opt for trade in and yet can’t be pfaffed with potential tyre kickers either… Boys and their toys… manmaths… grass always greener. Stick or twist Question Rolling Eyes

If it’s reliable and still a nice place to sit, I’d stick Thumbs Up

I loved my last L405, but it couldn’t go more than a week without breaking so I got rid. If it had been reliable I would have kept it for years.

I know all about the itchy back syndrome Very Happy

But in near exclusive ownership of various Land Rovers over the last 30 years the three I regret selling more than the others were a Classic LSE, one of the last P38’s off the production line and a D4.

All 3 owned for approximately 3 years and averaging about 40k miles in each.
All 3 had one thing in common, superb reliability with pretty much only routine servicing required.

It’s a shame the rest I’ve owned followed the preconceived ideas of dodgy reliability of LR products. Because it’s fair to say I’ve had a few dodgy one’s over the years Big Cry

That said I know my next change will still be for another LR Confused

“Spring Clean” 2022 complete and so the others can perhaps be afforded some TLC:
New EBC front discs, pads and brake wear sensor now fitted and a full detail completed inside and out.

Detail - Scholl S20 black (medium cut) with a DAS Pro 6 polisher and a Lake Country white foam polishing pad. The Scholl S20 is a very good, one stage compound and polish that achieves excellent results and is a lot less time consuming than applying a compound and then a polish and then a wax/ finish. To finish with though, the DAS Pro and a Lake Country black foam finessing pad were used to apply Meguairs liquid wax, just to afford longer term paint protection. Should make it easier and quicker to keep clean, the road muck should just slide off…

The bonnet:
