Refuelling Frustrations

Hi fellow enthusiasts , i am experiencing increasing difficulty refuelling my car , it's always been difficult with the pump clicking off at the slightest squeeze of the lever , i normally get round it by positioning the pump nozzle at the 9 o clock angle but even this is not working , i can be 5 minutes putting £20 worth in which isn't ideal .

There dosen't seem to be any restrictions in the filler neck and the yellow incorrect fuel flap is not deployed , is there another vent somewhere that might be blocked ? . 2011 tdv8 4.4 vogue Santorini black

Try turning the nozzle completely upside down so that you are pulling the filler lever down towards the ground! The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

It’s a quirk of the filler neck . Upside down works great Thumbs Up

Weird that didn’t work for you, I found this same thing and the upside down trick works well, although people think I’m mental when they see me do it 😂 2009 (2010 MY) 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography

Maybe the misfuelling protector has deployed….you just can’t see it
I would use the yellow reset tool
Just to be sure

My refuelling yellow had been deployed before I bought it and was damaged in the filler? I got a heavy gauge wire and pulled it out, it`s only for the wrong fuel nozzle being put in, had no troble after the removal.

I had the same problem with my 3.6 when I first got it, when I did the wiring repair in the fuel tank I had to open the inspection panels to the tank under the rear seats. Since I’ve done that I haven’t had any problems refuelling, I just guessed it was air in the tanks that was slowing down refuelling.

Filled up this afternoon ( mortgage acceptance received ) the fuel pump cut off at first but with it angled at 45degrees to the rear of the car it worked ok and I could gradually increase the flow without it cutting out.

When I fist got the car the garage went to put some fuel in and triggered the misfuelling device so when I tried to top it up would only accept a drizzle until I had reset it. 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

There was a TSB for problems filling the TDV8 with diesel years ago. Our first TDV8 had it done and it cured the problems filling it.

I’m sure the solution was a new filler pipe but it was years ago it was done.
