GAP IID and Oil Dilution 2017MY

I am trying to find out if a GAP tool will show inferred oil dilution on a 2017 MY L405. I have been in touch and this is what GAP say:

‘‘If Land Rover did implement this one then yes, you will be able to see it. We have however yet to complete implementation for 2017+ vehicles thus it may not be in.

We will add them all in time but no official date yet.”

Can anyone who has a MY 17 on and have a GAP tool provide a definitive answer please?

Much appreciated

Dave

Gap do not support my MY18 and MY above so I never bothered to buy one.

I presume, but could be wrong, that it was the change to the Facelift model on 1st March MY18 etc maybe MY17 just comes into the GAP bracket?

Surely they (GAP) would know for sure by your VIN number? 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

Thanks for your reply Kot.

My car is a late 2017 but a 17 MY. The rply from GAP came from their technical department so I had hoped that they could give a definitive answer but it is ambiguous to say the least.

I have not had oil dilution issues with this car in 2 years but we are about to start towing a twin axle caravan and I was hoping to find a means to read the inferred value before we set off on a trip. Perhaps an extra oil change every 6 months is the way to go if I can’t get this information.

the GAP iidtool only supports up to year 2016 at the moment and even then on the 16my it has limited functions..... ... - .- -.

GAP have been saying they will add the newer RR for at least the last 2 years. I will believe it when I see it. SDV8 AB MY 2020

Thanks very much for all the replies. I am going to do an extra oil change at the start of each season which fortunately is midway through my service interval so hopefully this will ensure there are no issues.
Grateful for all your help and comments.

The best way is definitely an extra oil change, but you can always check the miles to next service on the dash to tell you how far you have to go. It works on an algorithm in the ECU to determine oil dilution, once you reach 7% it will register 0 and call for an oil service. Just be careful as on most it may say 2000 miles to next service but you only get say 600 due to short journeys ETC. I also tow a twin axle van and always chuck an oil service in at the beginning of the season, I keep my own record so I never go more than about 7k miles without an oil change Thumbs Up

So the question is!!!!
What big change happened after MY16, that has completely defeated the GAP team? 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

I think Craig may have confirmed this on another thread, but my understanding is that for MY17 onwards there was a complete change in the Canbus system that connects all of the control modules which resulted in the IID tool (and others) being unable to talk to and re-configure the various control modules.

My guess is that the new comms protocols are somewhat propriatary so not easy for people like GAP to access. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography
