I had a problem with the transmission heat shield rattle that exposed itself at exactly 1350rpm.

The heat shield didn't look distorted at all, so I removed it and stuck some self adhesive velcro (the furry part) on the underside of the steel heat shield bracket (7H264 in the image below) to isolate the metal to metal interface between the heat shield and the bracket.

The result...silence restored.

10 minute job.

Hope this helps in the absence of the bulletin.

Unnecessary quote removed

Thank you Kev much appreciated I'll give this a go, this is the issue I'm probably trying to resolve, hum/resonance on throttle loudest at 1300 rpm, the dissappears at below 1k and over 1.6k revs.

I will post an update, I have seen this issue mentioned on a few other posts with no resolution with people not reporting back

Thanks again

Quick update

Unfortunately this didn't resolve my issue, the diagram is for a petrol v8 I believe. My sdv8 doesn't have the same gearbox brackets

Anyway I will keep hunting around for the source, I will post back if I have any updates

My undertray looks exactly like this, I turned the engine on without the heatshield but the vibration is still audible, I will link to a post with an audio clip

Ah that's a shame. They must have changed it between 2014 and 2016. Kev
